Japanese War Crimes: The Real Issues At Hand

Haji Mokhtar Stork [based on news reports]

A Chinese living in Japan when interviewed said, “The Japanese feel unhappy over what the Americans did to them, but they did not ask themselves just why they were bombed?”

This simple statement more or less sums up the attitude of people, where in the case of the Japanese, they feel that they were unjustly nuked by America, while the China and Korea feel that the Japanese have not acknowledged their atrocities, and still continue to gloss over them in a righteous manner. This is the general view presented to the world by China during recent demonstrations, but in truth there seems to be other concerns, notably the possibility of Japan joining the U.N. Security Council, something that China does not appreciate from a political point of view. This is based on the principle of accountability, where it is said that the Japanese have not acted responsibly over their atrocities in neighbouring countries. Then there is the issue of Japanese support for Taiwan which has angered China . Added to this is the fact that everyone knows that Japan is an staunch ally of America, and given the circumstances it is in, Japan has no choice but to be pro-American.

If we are to accept the principle of accountability, then India which is also playing a similar game to gain creditability so that it too can gain a seat on the Security Council should be bared because of its failure to resolve the Kashmir issue with Pakistan . As far as Muslims and Muslim nations are concerned, both Japan and India entry into the Security Council with veto powers will not bring about any global improvements to Muslim issues of injustice through continued vetoes by America in favour of Israel .

The recent protests in China against Japanese interest saw similar protest in Japan against Chinese interest. When it comes to business both have suffered because tourisms drops drastically. In the case of China it is a great loss because during holiday seasons, Japanese visit China in huge numbers. So as far as tourism is concerned it is a total loss to China but not so to Japan . Not many people want to visit Japan because it cost a fortune to be there. So this issue is not going to affect their business, but politically the Japanese are concerned because China has been growing in stature politically and economically.

The textbook issue is in fact an age-old issue, with one accusing the other of deceit and deception. Mr. Koizumi’s continued visits to Japan ’s War Memorial Shrine continue to infuriate the Chinese who consider the dead to be criminals. Be they criminal or not, the deceased have to be honoured as humans departing this world, and doing so does not necessarily make them heroes, even though some may look upon them as such. This is understandable. One man’s meat is another man’s poison. Anyway, Koizumi has made an apology which was accepted with reservations that there is a need to do more. Hopefully this issue will be resolved as far as China and Japan are concerned, but what about the rest of South East Asia ?

To view a glimpse of this we have to view the Singapore Prime Minister’s comments, where the call was to move on and forget the past. This does sound practical and realistic, but what’s overlooked here is that though the war is over and that Japan has made an official apology at the time of its defeat, this does not really address the issue of suffering that many went through. Compensation has to be paid out, issues addressed, because undue suffering and loss of life do not go away with an apology. If we are to accept this, then why do the Jews keep harping over their sufferings at the hands of Hitler? Should the chapter too not be closed forever? If we say that the suffers have the right to remind the world of their sufferings, then we too have the right to do so about Japanese occupation and its brutality, and not to merely entertain the occasional war memorial service and to cater to tourism tours of such sites.

Though I was born during the Japanese occupation and did not know much about it, but my mom and aunts did tell me of the brutality they suffered at the hands of the Japanese. Many were killed by them. And though the time has come to move forward issues still need to be addressed for we live in a civilised society. But apparently sophist iced man has other manipulative agenda on the menu, often making use of the ordinary man to fulfill them, and it is here that we lack sincerity and honesty. THE END

TSUNAMI - Act Of God or Act Of Nature?

Our hearts do go out to all in pain. No one would wish even for his enemy such a disaster but these things (tidal waves, earthquakes, tornadoes, typhoons etc) all do take place from time to time. Are these Acts of Nature or are they Acts of God? Is there a difference between September 11th and what took place recently in the form of a Tsunami?

Since we are all raised in a secular manner, our education is linked to science rather than to God. And as a result of this we are made to believe that these are Acts of Nature rather than Acts of God. Not long ago there was a headline on the Internet saying, "Are You Prepared For A Visit By Nature", a reference to an approaching Hurricane heading for the Americas. Well, to a certain extent this is true but it is also incomplete because it only provides one part of the overall answer.

The thing about science is that no matter how advanced it is, it cannot really solve a problem. For example, you can place a whole series of sensors on the ocean bed to detect Tsunamis but you will be able to only issue a warning, and each warning sets off an exodus of people costing millions of dollars. Hawaii has experienced many such instances. What this indicates is that the last say lies with God, and all it takes is one command from Him to "Be" and it "Becomes!" Science can only help you understand what God (Allah) has set into motion in the form of what is known to us as The Laws of Nature, The Law of Causation etc. In the Qur'an these are referred to as "His Fitrah". What this also means is that God (Allah) does not go about waving a magic wand, but rather it is human behaviour that leads to accountability bringing about His blessing or His punishment. September 11th is such an example, likewise earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons etc. Do ask "Where Was God?" Instead ask, "Why Are You Visited By God?"

The Scriptures of the Bible and the Qur'an do inform us of such devastating events. They include the flood at the time of the Prophet Noah, the events surrounding Sodom and Gomorrah, the era of the Prophet Moses and Pharaoh, A'd and Thamud and many others examples of God's wrath on a sinful disobedient people. The only reason why many are not able to relate the Scriptures to present day existent is simply because of the secular way we have been raised. To many those are past events taking place in the presence of Prophets. Today they are Acts of Nature! The truth is, there is no difference between those events and what takes place today. They all come under the orbit of God (Allah), for nothing takes place without His consent.

Now if we move down the ladder of events, nations and individuals are involved in all calamities, and when we examine these according to Islam, we have to consider the following features:

  1. What was the individual's intention for a visit or holiday? Was it to exercise one organs in Thailand or just to have a family outing or holiday?
  2. The places visited, what are they known for?

3. The conduct and behaviour of a nation - Is it a corrupt one, a sinful one etc? Have its citizens failed to fulfil the Qur'anic command of calling people to goodness and prohibiting evil?

Now if look at those nations that were affected by the Tsunami what do they represent?

  1. THAILAND – A well know place for sinful entertainment. And of late 500 innocent Muslims were killed in the south of Thailand unjustly. The brutality conducted by the Thai army, which was witnessed on television, was unbelievable. Now consider the pleas to Allah by the innocent. Does it not amount to retribution?
  2. ACHEH, INDONESIA – This region has witnessed untold brutality by the army against Muslims, a corrupt governor who was only recently jailed. Purification could have taken place here.
  3. PENANG, MALAYSIA – The recent call in the media to "Save Penang" has been answered in a far more devastating manner. It is a reminder to Malaysians that they better clean up their act (corruption etc) or be witnessed by more visits from Allah.
  4. MALDIVES – A Muslim country who’s present President is undemocratic, pulling out all kinds of tricks to remain in office. The Tsunami caused the elections to be postponed with devastating results. Muslims there have a lot to reflect upon in accordance with the Qur’an i.e. promoting good and prohibiting evil.
  5. SRI LANKA – The worst hit area is the south, an area held by the brutal Tamil Tigers. Muslims have borne the brunt of this conflict. People there have much to reflect upon in terms of the Creator and their conduct.
  6. AFRICA: SOMALIA, KENYA etc. – Countries mired in misgovernment, corruption etc.

As for infants and children, they are exempted from punishment and are granted immediate entry into Allah's heaven because they have not reached the age of maturity for accountability to take place upon them. As for individual, those who sincerely believe in none other but Allah and fulfilled their obligations to Him by obeying Him, will enjoy His mercy and may even gain martyrdom in accordance with their state of piety and righteousness.

Finally, every Act of God (Allah) takes on two forms, namely in the form of Purification or in the form of Punishment. These are indeed times to ponder and reflect upon the greatness and power of God (Allah). It is a reminder to us all that we who walk on this earth, should walk upon it with respect, because the Angel of Death is always a step behind us, awaiting Allah's command to strike. And when he does so, he offers no mercy except to those who submit themselves to God (Allah) only.

UPDATE

If you doubts over what I have said then consider these points. There was hardly any fish (when compared in numbers to human loss) thrown up on any beach nor were there many animals dead. In Thailand, a mahoot said that elephants sounded the alarm twice before danger was noticed. These elephants broke their chains and fled to higher ground. Some say animals have a sixth sense but from an Islamic point of view they were created at the lower rung of the ladder and as such are free from accountability and were in fact directed to freedom by Allah.. A recent report by Channel News Asia, Singapore also showed a mosque on the island of Phuket, Thailand untouched by the tidal wave. This too is another sign from Allah. Only those who have the insight to perceive the hand of Allah at work will be able to understand the truth.

Apart from this I did receive an e-mail from a friend of mine who acquired this notion that the Tsunami had something to do with an American conspiracy, hydrogen bomb testing on the seabed etc. Well, the world is full of conspirators with good imaginations, minus the facts or evidence to support their arguments. THE END.

Was The TSUNAMI Man Made?

JOSEPH NASR: The earthquake that struck the Indian Ocean on December 26, triggering a series of huge waves called tsunami, "was possibly" caused by an Indian nuclear experiment in which "Israeli and American nuclear experts participated," an Egyptian weekly magazine reported Thursday.

According to Al-Osboa', India , in its heated nuclear race with Pakistan , has lately received sophisticated nuclear know-how from the United States and Israel , both of which "showed readiness to cooperate with India in experiments to exterminate humankind."

Since 1992, the magazine argued, leading geological centres in Britain, Turkey and other countries, warned of the need "not to hold nuclear experiments in the region of the Indian Ocean known as 'the Fire Belt,' in which the epicentre of the earthquake lies. Geologists labelled that region 'The Fire Belt' for being "a dangerous terrain that can move at anytime, without human intervention," Al-Osboa' wrote.

Despite warnings not to carry out nuclear experiments in and around the 'Fire Belt', "Israel and India continue to conduct nuclear tests in the Indian Ocean, and the United States has recently decided to carry out similar tests in the Australian deserts, which is included in the 'Fire Belt', the Egyptian weekly magazine wrote.

"Last year only, Arab and Islamic states have asked the United States to stop its nuclear activities in that region, and to urge Israel and India to follow suite," Al-Osboa' reported. Although Al-Osboa' does not rule out the possibility that the tsunami could have been caused by a natural earthquake it speculates however that, "while it has not been proved yet, there has been a joint Israeli-Indian secret nuclear experiment [conducted on December 26] that caused the earthquake."

The Egyptian weekly magazine concludes in its report that "the exchange of nuclear experts between Israel and India , and US pressure on Pakistan which is exerted by supplying India with state-of-the-art nuclear technology and preventing Islamabad from cooperating with Asian and Islamic states in the nuclear field, pose a big question mark on the causes behind the violent Asian earthquake." Incitement against Israel and Jews in Egyptian media is usually limited to the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict yet exceptions are known to occur.

In August 2002, the Paris Supreme Court summoned Ibrahim Naafi', editor of the Egyptian daily Al-Ahram, for having authorized the publication of a controversial article entitled 'Jewish matza is made from Arab blood' in the October 28, 2000 edition of the paper. Naafi' was charged with incitement to anti-Semitism and racist violence.

Other Reports:

In other developments, it appears that "Others are engaging even in an eco type of terrorism, whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes or volcanoes remotely, through the use of electromagnetic waves." American Secretary of Defence William S. Cohen, April 1997. Big surprise! Presumably Cohen already knew that a nuclear weapon generates what he refers to obliquely as "electromagnetic waves".

Despite a natural human tendency to be shocked into silence by the sheer number of dead and injured across Asia on 26 December 2004, and despite also being slightly fearful of losing personal credibility because of the magnitude of the apparent crime, there are many provable irregularities in the official American tsunami story that simply have to be recorded now, or forever be lost in the sands of time.

It is beyond any doubt that a giant tidal wave (tsunami) smashed its way through South and South East Asia, and still had enough legs to continue all the way across the Indian Ocean to Africa , where it killed and injured a few hundred more. So the only question we must ask, is whether this tsunami was a natural or man-made catastrophe? A natural event would be horrifying enough, but if the tsunami was man-made, then we are unquestionably looking at the biggest single war crime in global history.

To make any sense at all of the irregularities, we must start at the very beginning, and then follow the course of events as they unfold, especially events in the immediate vicinity of the real tsunami epicentre, because the latter is quite different from the location being remorselessly peddled by the New York Times and CNN.

At midday local Australian time I faithfully recorded the magnitude and position plotted by the Jakarta Geophysical Office in Indonesia . An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale had hit the north of the Indonesian island of Sumatra . The Jakarta Geophysical Office meticulously noted that the epicenter of the event was located 155 miles south-southwest of Aceh Province .

This location is approximately 250 miles south of the position later selected by the American NOAA, which plotted the epicenter to the north-west of Aceh, and initially claimed a Richter reading of 8.0. Alas, even that was not enough to cover the damage caused by this extraordinary event, so NOAA progressively upgraded the reading to 8.5, then to 8.9, and finally to 9.0 - at least for the present.

So, the first proven irregularities were peddled by American officials at the NOAA, who suddenly invented a new 'flexible' peak seismic wave for the event, of far greater magnitude than Jakarta , when the Jakarta office was located much closer at almost point-blank range. Believe me when I tell you there is no such thing as the new 'flexible' peak claimed by NOAA. The first seismic peak you record is the only real peak, unless of course you later manually draw in a few more peaks of your own, to match a contrived agenda. Naturally there is also only one epicentre, which was faithfully recorded by dozens of Indonesian and Indian seismographs.

Quite apart from the huge disparity in Richter values, the Indonesians and Indians were disturbed to find that the normal earthquake 'preamble' was missing from their seismograph charts. All this means is that the normal steadily increasing number of transverse shear "S" waves that always precede an earthquake were missing, as were later aftershocks, which likewise always accompany a naturally occurring or Tesla standing-wave generated earthquake. There were 'warnings' of aftershocks from the NOAA, but none actually eventuated.

To simplify matters for non-technical readers, an earthquake is always triggered by a resonant electromagnetic frequency in the range 0.5 to 12 Hertz, but it is not an instant process, because the resonant frequency must be precise. Thus as true resonance approaches, the fault line starts to tremble like a piece of rope under tension, and sends out warnings to the seismographs in the form of steadily increasing transverse shear waves.

If all you get is a cluster of "P" compression waves, then you are almost certainly looking at an underground or sub sea explosion. These were in fact the only copious seismic signals that the Indonesians and Indians received, and they looked curiously similar to those generated many years ago by large underground nuclear weapons in Nevada .

The Indian Government knew full well that this was not a "normal" earthquake. On 27 December India refused to join George Bush's planned exclusive 'club of four', which would have effectively pulled this Asian nuclear power out of its new coalition with Russia , China and Brazil . On 28 December the Indian Government politely warned the American military to stay clear of Indian sovereign territory, and on 29 December the India Daily Editorial publicly questioned the nature of the event: "Was this a showdown by a country to show the region what havoc can be created?" ... "Given the level of devastation and given the fact India is a regional power in South Asia , [the] Indian Navy has an obligation to investigate and tell the world what they found."

We will return later to the relatively simple task of delivering a multi-megaton thermonuclear weapon to the bottom of the Sumatran Trench, and then detonating it with awesome effect, but right now we need to return to our initial task of following the trail of events and inexplicable irregularities. First we must travel south to the distant desert island of Australia , currently ruled by an obsequious Wall Street toady known as Little Johnny Howard. To the intense displeasure of many of his Australian "subjects", Little Johnny never makes a move outside Australia unless he first receives explicit instructions from one of his New York minders. Remember this reality, because it is extremely important in terms of what Australia did next.

On the morning of 27 December, the Australian (New York owned) media was making it very clear that the most badly hit nation in the region was Sri Lanka, an island at the southern tip of India, which like Australia is a member nation of the British Commonwealth. Accordingly, Tim Costello, head of one of Australia 's largest charities, made immediate plans to fly to the area and assess the need for aid. But that same morning, Little Johnny was dancing to a very different tune, which, based on his known subservience, must have been playing down his secure telephone line from Wall Street.

In true covert manner, Little Johnny secretly dispatched two RAAF Hercules transport planes packed with supplies to Malaysia on "Stand By" and directed two more to Darwin in Australia 's north. Please note that if Little Johnny had any humanitarian concerns at all, all four Hercules could have flown directly to Commonwealth partner Sri Lanka , where every other Australian had already been told by the media that aid was needed. But no, it wasn't to be, and Little Johnny waited patiently for orders from New York .

The waiting period was short, and after a high-flying reconnaissance jet confirmed that the runway was clear at Medan in eastern Sumatra, all four Australian Hercules complete with troops, guns and other tackle, invaded Sumatra just south of the devastated province of Aceh . In turn, with 90% of its population killed by the tsunami, Aceh might perhaps one day soon become Indonesia 's very own Guantanamo Bay , crawling with hundreds of heavily armed Australians and Americans.

Remember carefully though, at the time these four Hercules touched down in Medan , the ordinary Australian public still had no idea that Sumatra was badly hit. Only Little Johnny knew, and of course his trusty crystal ball in New York . To hell with Sri Lanka , his bosses wanted a main base for the huge reconstruction contracts in Asia, designed to replace the failed oil theft and reconstruction in Iraq , and keep poor old Zion on its tottering New York legs for a few more weeks or months.

In the end, what the hell did it matter how many Goyim had to die? And, hey, on the credit side they'd already managed to kill more than 100,00 Muslims in Sumatra with a single tidal wave, which was partial payback for their own resounding defeats in Afghanistan and Iraq . Needless to say the Australians were merely the advance party, soon to be joined by a curiously well prepared and equipped U.S. Military, though it is doubtful that any of the officers and men involved really comprehend what is going on. Only a handful thought to question why they had been spending a whole year training for a "Humanitarian Mission", when the whole point of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps is normally to kill people in very large numbers. Just look at Fallujah, people, look at Fallujah.

As if by magic, the Pentagon managed to have two battle groups ready to sail at an instant's notice from Hong Kong and Guam during the normally chaotic Christmas to New Year period. Crikey! Military discipline has come a hell of a long way since my day, when everyone including the ship's cat was sleeping it off at some highly questionably hostelry or another. Not these 10,000+ Americans though, who must have been standing rigidly to attention beside their hammocks day and night, tugging furiously at their forelocks whenever an officer of NCO came in sight.

The next bit was superbly orchestrated, because it took place at sea, far away from the prying eyes of dock spies or imaginary KGB agents. But oops, first you have to know who was involved. Out of Hong Kong rushed team one, comprised of the nuclear-powered USS Abraham Lincoln and her escort vessels, while the far more interesting team two rushed out of Guam, led by the USS Bonhomme Richard, a marine amphibious assault carrier crammed to the gunwales with gun-toting wooden tops. And that is not all, believe me, because the Bonhomme Richard is in fact leading a veritable armada known as "Expeditionary Strike Group 5".

Flagship USS Bonhomme Richard is accompanied by the U.S.S. Duluth, an amphibious transport dock vessel; the USS Rushmore, a landing ship dock; the guided missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill, guided missile destroyer USS Milius, and the guided missile frigate USS Thach. To take care of the underwater side of things they are joined by the nuclear hunter-killer submarine USS Pasadena, while the U.S. Coast Guard's high-endurance cutter Munro is also tagging along, presumably to deal with Asian Customs and Excise.

Now then, though 'Strike Group 5' may be toting enough nuclear weapons to destroy half of the known world, and the title is perhaps lacking when viewed from a strictly humanitarian perspective, engineer chief Staff Sgt. Julio C. Dominguez says otherwise: "The Marine Service Support Group has been preparing for a humanitarian mission of this type for about 12 months now, and is more prepared for an actual mission". Well, OK chief, but didn't you ask why you were being trained for a mysterious humanitarian mission a year before it actually happened, especially when your day job is normally shooting Muslims full of holes?

Theoretically, the American 9 megaton W-53 thermonuclear warhead could easily be encased in a small 'look-alike' saturation diving chamber similar to that on the right, to protect it from the massive 10,000 pounds per square inch pressures at the bottom of the Sumatran Trench. The whole armoured package would weigh less than five tons, allowing it to be slipped over the stern of any oil rig supply vessel, of which there are more than 300 in Asia alone. Who would even notice?

I will be circumspect as to exactly how a large American thermonuclear weapon managed to arrive at the bottom of the Sumatran Trench, though all of the seismic evidence and preparedness for the resulting mission indicates strongly that this is the case. After all, we are back to the age-old question of "who benefits?", and in this particular case, "Who is insane enough to kill more than 150,000 civilians just to hang on to power?' Based on their past performance in Iraq and other luckless countries, it would seem that the only realistic candidates are Wolfowitz and company, striving as always to create a "One World Government".

Certainly no other nuclear powers including Russia and China stand to gain anything at all from such an outrageous mass murder, so, as always in the end, we come back to Sherlock Holmes via the pen of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle: "When you have ruled out the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, is the truth."

For the Zionist Cabal, obtaining a thermonuclear weapon in America is no great trick, especially when we have the precedent of 100 small 'decommissioned' air-to-air atomic warheads being smuggled out the Pentagon's (civilian) back door, to form the core of the Jewish State's current nuclear arsenal. Once a weapon system is out date and out of service, loyal uniformed US military personnel can no longer track it.

Those who wish to understand how such a seemingly small weapon could rattle a 20,000 feet-deep oceanic trench, and then force a giant tsunami right across the Indian Ocean, would do well to look at the diagram of the famous 'Dambusters' attacking the German dam below, most of which is self-explanatory. The designer of the RAF's bouncing bomb (actually called "Highball") was a scientist called Barnes Wallace, who had already gained a formidable reputation with his Wellington bomber, which he constructed geodetically, thus enabling it to absorb enormous punishment before actually being shot out of the sky. Many Wellington returned to base literally in tatters, while many luckless cousins like the Stirling and Halifax were all too often consigned to the murky deep of the North Sea .

Wallace knew that bombing the dams vertically was a complete waste of time, and the only possibility of success lay in placing a mine hard up against the dam wall at its base. You see, water cannot be compressed, meaning that if the mine was pressed against the dam wall at the moment of detonation, part of its energy would automatically be expended on the wall itself. Too far away in the relatively shallow water, and most of the blast energy would be lost to atmosphere, in a huge exploding cloud of water of course.

Though it was obvious that the dam wall could not be destroyed by a single bomb from a single Lancaster bomber (it would weight far too much for the aircraft to get off the ground), Wallace pinned his hopes on the scientific fact that cumulative stress should do the job, and he was proved right. Though officially three of the bombs, each containing 6,500 pounds of TNT, were considered to be direct hits, one of these veered off slightly, meaning that the giant Mohne Dam was completely breached by a total of 13,000 pounds of tri-nitro toluene.

It is the incompressibility of water in particular that matters deep down in the Sumatran Trench. At the bottom you already have 10,000 pounds of pressure per square inch pressing down on your weapon of choice, and above that weapon there is a column of water 20,000 feet tall, which is what caused the pressure in the first place. Not only that. The trench narrows at the bottom, meaning that the weapon is 'hemmed-in', with a very real chance of moving a tectonic plate if sufficient tonnage is used.

In this particular case there was no real need to shift a tectonic plate, and science suggests that if this blast had caused such an effect, several very powerful aftershocks would have occurred, as has happened with every other major earthquake in the past. But, as previously stated, and setting aside the seemingly deliberate provocative though false warnings from the American NOAA, there has not been a single aftershock which can be directly & scientifically linked to the 'event' in the Sumatran Trench at 0758 hours local on 26 December 2004. Later tremors might or might not be connected to the weapon.

To force subservience on Asia , and ensure the lion's share of incredibly lucrative reconstruction contracts, all that was needed was a very large tsunami targeted on the selected nations, which was easily within the capabilities of a large thermo-nuke. There is nothing new about "Sea Bursts" as they are called, and more than 30 years ago plans existed in both America and Russia to wipe out each other's coastal cities using exactly this technique. The tidal wave from a deep sea burst is relatively clean, allowing the aggressor to take over both land and remaining buildings etc. with the minimum of delay.

If everything had gone to plan, then Indonesia , Sri Lanka and India would have been in hock to the IMF and World Bank for thirty or more years - time enough to wait for the price of oil to come down again after the lethal fiasco in Iraq . At the same time, if the Indian Government had taken the bait, the deadly Russian-Chinese-Indian-Brazilian coalition would have been dead in the water. Not a bad day's work for a single thermonuclear weapon discreetly removed from the decommissioning process.

There are those who may claim that I have 'left out' the giant Exxon-Mobil gas fields in Aceh, but that is not the case. Certainly they are very productive sub-surface fields, and will unquestionably produce lots of gas again once the surface equipment has been repaired, but in isolation they are completely incapable of saving the New Zion from collapse. Wall Street needs giant reconstruction contracts, and plenty of them.

If I remember correctly, shortly before Christmas I received a large number of emails from various people about some "German Guy", who apparently claimed that Wolfowitz had got hold of a critical weapon and was going to nuke Houston on either the 26 or 27 of December. I never did read the whole email, but it seems very likely that it was initially circulated by Wolfowitz or one of his ilk, as a classic disinformation distraction. Try something along the lines of "You suckers all watch Houston very carefully on 26 December, while I nuke Asia behind your backs? "

India 's nuclear reactor at Chennai in Tamil Nadu State , flanked on either side by state-of-the-art hyper performance Sukhoi SU 30 jets, which should have been vulnerably situated in the Nicobar Islands front-line when the tsunami roared north from the Sumatran Trench.

India has a major air force base on the Island of Car Nicobar , which guards the front line of Indian airspace in the Bay of Bengal . This base was being upgraded as 'home' to 25 of the IAF's Russian Sukhoi SU 30 jets, every one of which is capable of firing both the Sunburn and Onyx Mach 2.0+ sea skimming anti-ship missiles. The Sukhoi squadrons were due to arrive in Car Nicobar on 14 December, but had to be delayed because of construction work, which is extremely ironic. Despite the tidal wave roaring over the island and breaking up the runways, India still has its incredibly valuable SU 30 hyper performance planes, now situated on the mainland fully armed, and within striking range of both US Battle Fleets currently in the Indian Ocean .

"We will have the fighters operating from the base within six months," a determined Air Chief Marshal S Krishnaswamy said as he assessed the damage caused to the [Car Nicobar] base. "In a year's time we will make the base fully operational. The problem is of transporting each and every construction material by ships and planes again to this place. The material includes even the concrete which we have to lay on the runway."

There could also have been a major catastrophe at Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India 's southernmost state and home to its fast breeder nuclear reactor. About another 0.2 on the Richter Scale, and the world ( india in Particular) would very likely have been facing a second Chernobyl – yet another catastrophic 'spin-off' from the Sumatran Trench event. Fortunately, as if by fate, the tidal wave damaged only the cooling water inlets, which play no part in the nuclear process.

As I post this update in the early hours of 6 January, Bloomberg has very kindly just confirmed the transfer of power from Expeditionary Strike Group 5 (humanitarian duties only), to the USS Abraham Lincoln battle group off Aceh. Now not one but both massive assault landing carriers are bound for poor old Indonesia and its 110,000,000 Muslim citizens."

The USS Bonhomme Richard and USS Duluth today arrived in Sumatran waters and airlifted more than 200,000 pounds (90,000 kilograms) from two warehouses for distribution to areas unreachable by road, the U.S. embassy in Jakarta said in an e- mailed statement. The ships carry 25 helicopters each and more than doubled the number of U.S. aircraft to carry aid. "

Islam Is Against Terrorism: A distorted Perception

Of late there have been many books published by Muslims declaring that Islam Is Against Terrorism. Much of this material is apologetic in nature, coined by His Majesty’s Service and Loyal Servants of the West. To truly understand what terrorism is all about one has to understand the factors can cause it to exist in the first place, and in this context the Malaysian Prime Minister’s statement is valid when he says that we have to get down to the root cause of such problems.

After years of reading the daily news J. M. Andrade has come up with the following. He said that people's interest in political definitions is very commendable. "Allow me to assure you that they are by no means the only people who are confused by such remarkable display of double standards in every day life - in fact a small dictionary was published in France years ago to try to explain media jargon."

"Briefly, bandits are terrorists if you are fighting them, guerrillas if you are not, and freedom fighters if you want them to win, and guerrillas (or 'boys from the bush') afterwards. A government or regime if it shows no desire to surrender to its enemies - or (just to make things more interesting) after it does surrender, usually through lack of the will to win. Likewise, a murderer is a criminal if not politically motivated, an extremists or a terrorist if he is a right-winger, and an urban guerrilla if he is a Marxist;; in the later case, if he is arrested he becomes a political prisoner and his trial is seen as a politically motivated act of vengeance.

Under the 'New World Order' of today the Palestinians who lost their land are looked upon as terrorists for reclaiming it. A Muslim on the whole is viewed as a Fundamentalist, Extremist or Terrorist - a threat to world peace. We are made to believe that terrorism is evil when it is performed by Muslims, but holy when America, and its allies, and Israel perform acts of terror.

Al-Qaradhawi Speaks On The Legitimacy Of Martyrdom Operations

During the first week of July 2003, the European Council for Fatwa and Research convened in Stockholm for its 11th session. The council, which was established in 1997 in the U.K., is comprised primarily of Islamic scholars from the Arab world and is headed by Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi, one of the most influential clerics in Sunni Islam and amongst Islamist groups and organisations. The council convenes every few months in a European city to conduct discussions and issue Fatwas on questions concerning Muslim communities in the West. Following differences of opinion on the matter of martyrdom bombings during the previous session (convened in Dublin in January 2003), the council decided to research the matter and bring it up for discussion at the July session..

Though the Stockholm conference was called "Jihad and Denying its Connection to Terror," the five reports that were presented focused on dictionary definitions of the word "terror." The London-based Arabic language daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported at length on the research by Sheikh Al-Qaradhawi, who classified terror according to the following categories: colonialist terror, state terror, international terror, political terror, terror that is permitted by Islamic law, terror that is prohibited by Islamic law, and martyrdom operations. The following are excerpts from the report:

Martyrdom Operations

"The martyrdom operations carried out by the Palestinian factions to resist the Zionist occupation are not in any way included in the framework of prohibited terrorism, even if the victims include some civilians. This is for several reasons:

First of all, due to the colonialist, occupational, racist, and [plundering] nature of Israeli society, it is, in fact, a military society. Anyone past childhood, man or woman, is drafted into the Israeli army. Every Israeli is a solider in the army, either in practical terms or because he is a reservist soldier who can be summoned at any time for war. This fact needs no proof. Those they call 'civilians' are in effect 'soldiers' in the army of the sons of Zion.

Second, Israeli society has a unique trait that makes it different from the other human societies, and that is that as far as the people of Palestine are concerned, it is a 'society of invaders' who came from outside the region - from Russia or America, from Europe or from the lands of the Orient - to occupy Palestine and settle in it..."

"Those who are invaded have the right to fight the invaders with all means at their disposal in order to remove [the invaders] from their homes and send them back to the homes from whence they came... This is a Jihad of necessity, as the clerics call it, and not Jihad of choice... Even if an innocent child is killed as a result of this Jihad - it was not intended, but rather due to the necessities of the war... Even with the passage of time, these [Israeli] so-called 'civilians' do not stop being invaders, evil, tyrants, and oppressors..."

"Third... It has been determined by Islamic law that the blood and property of people of Dar Al-Harb [the Domain of Disbelief where the battle for the domination of Islam should be waged] is not protected. Because they fight against and are hostile towards the Muslims, they annulled the protection of his blood and his property."

"Fourth, the Muslim clerics, or most of them, have agreed that it is permissible to kill Muslims if the army that attacks the Muslims hides behind them, that is, uses them as barricades or human shields, and sets them at the front so that the fire, arrows, or spears of the Muslims will harm them first. The clerics have permitted the defenders to kill these innocent Muslims, who were forced to stand at the head of the army of their enemies... Otherwise the invading army will enter and annihilate their offspring and their harvests. There was no choice but to sacrifice some [of the Muslims] in order to defend the entire [Muslim] community... Therefore, if it is permitted to kill innocent Muslims who are under coercion in order to protect the greater Muslim community, it is all the more so permissible to kill non-Muslims in order to liberate the land of the Muslims from its occupiers and oppressors.

Fifth, in modern war, all of society, with all its classes and ethnic groups, is mobilised to participate in the war, to aid its continuation, and to provide it with the material and human fuel required for it to assure the victory of the state fighting its enemies. Every citizen in society must take upon himself a role in the effort to provide for the battle. The entire domestic front, including professionals, labourers, and industrialists, stands behind the fighting army, even if it does not bear arms. Therefore the experts say that the Zionist entity, in truth, is one army.

Sixth, there are two types of Fatwas: Fatwas concerning a situation of calm and choice, and Fatwas concerning a situation of distress and necessity. It is permissible for a Muslim, when in a situation of extreme necessity, to do what is prohibited to him [in circumstances allowing] choice... Thus, one of the clerics has espoused the rule: 'Necessities permit prohibitions.' Our brothers in Palestine are, without a doubt, in a situation of extreme necessity to carry out martyrdom operations in order to unsettle their enemies and the plunderers of their land and to sow horror in their hearts so that they will leave, and return to the places from whence they came..."

"What weapon can harm their enemy, can prevent him from sleeping, and can strip him of a sense of security and stability, except for these human bombs - a young man or woman who blows himself or herself up amongst their enemy. This is a weapon the likes of which the enemy cannot obtain, even if the U.S. provides it with billions [of dollars] and the most powerful weapons, because it is a unique weapon that Allah has placed only in the hands of the men of belief. It is a type of divine justice on the face of the earth... it is the weapon of the wretched weak in the face of the powerful tyrant..."Those Who Oppose Martyrdom Operations and Claim that they are Suicide are Making a Great Mistake

"Those who oppose martyrdom operations and claim that they are suicide are making a great mistake. The goals of the one who carries out a martyrdom operation and of the one who commits suicide are completely different. Anyone who analyses the soul of [these two] will discover the huge difference between them. The [person who commits] suicide kills himself for himself, because he failed in business, love, an examination, or the like. He was too weak to cope with the situation and chose to flee life for death. In contrast, the one who carries out a martyrdom operation does not think of himself. He sacrifices himself for the sake of a higher goal, for which all sacrifices become meaningless. He sells himself to Allah in order to buy Paradise in exchange. Allah said: 'Allah has bought from the believers their souls and their properties for they shall inherit Paradise.'

"While the [person who commits] suicide dies in escape and retreat, the one who carries out a martyrdom operation dies in advance and attack. Unlike the [person who commits] suicide, who has no goal except escape from confrontation, the one who carries out a martyrdom operation has a clear goal, and that is to please Allah..."

The Guardian reported, under the heading, "The Right To Resist" saying, "It would have been hard to predict in advance that the US and British occupation of Iraq could go so spectacularly wrong so quickly. The words of the historian Tacitus about the Roman invasion of Scotland in the first century AD might just as well have been written about our latter-day Rome's latest imperial adventure: "They create a wasteland and they call it peace."

"In Britain, the unravelling of what US deputy secretary of defence, Paul Wolfowitz, called the "bureaucratic" pretext for war - the supposed threat from Iraqi chemical and biological weapons - has created the most serious political crisis for Tony Blair's government in six years and removed the last vestige of possible legality from the aggression."

"With no sign of any such weapons on the ground in Iraq, intelligence leaks and the withering accounts of former cabinet ministers Clare Short and Robin Cook have stripped bare the ultimate New Labour spin operation. Polls show most British people are now convinced the government deliberately exaggerated the evidence that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction to bounce public and parliament into war. Not surprisingly, attitudes to the conflict itself are also beginning to turn. Add to that the rampant lawlessness, insecurity, looting of all public institutions, destruction of national treasures, epidemic of murder and robbery, and it is little wonder that most Iraqis appear to find it hard to see themselves as having been liberated. And far from being lower than expected, the number of Iraqi civilians killed is now estimated - on the basis of hospital, mortuary and media records - to have been between 5,500 and 7,200, while Iraqi military deaths are thought to run into tens of thousands."

"It also helps to explain the scale of civil and armed resistance, which is concentrated in the Sunni triangle to the north and west of Baghdad. Around 50 US soldiers have been killed by Iraqi fighters since the war was declared won - getting on for half the number killed in the war itself. A series of punitive counter-insurgency operations by US troops in the past week has led to the capture and deaths of hundreds of Iraqis - sweeping up many innocents in the process - but appears to have had no impact on the level of attacks. US commanders have branded the guerillas "subversives" and even "terrorists", or tried to dismiss them as "remnants" of the regime. The evidence suggests that while Ba'athists form part of the resistance, that is far from being the whole picture."

But what they cannot by any sensible reckoning be called are terrorists - nor does the US have any right to try guerillas who attack occupation troops as criminals, which Bremer announced it plans to do this week. It is an almost universally accepted principle that a people occupied by a foreign power has the right to use armed force to resist - though whether force will be the best tactic is another matter. It was the crudest self-delusion on the part of the invading states to imagine that because most Iraqis wanted an end to the Saddam regime they would accept the imposition of a foreign occupation to replace it. s.milne@guardian.co.uk - Thursday June 19, 2003

Muslim leaders and Muslim nations should not fall for such gimmicks nor believe that Islam is against terrorism. Had this been true then the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. could not have fulfilled his mission, as the pagan Quraish were the established authority, just as America is today, and any changes introduced by the Prophet s.a.w. would have made him a terrorist to the Quraish, the Persian Empire and Roman Empire. Therefore in addressing this issue one has to view the fundamental principles of justice which we don’t see taking place today; where America, the West and the U.N. have all failed to bring about just solutions to world issues. And it is this over boiling pot that has led to frustration, desperation, anger and hatred towards the West as a whole.

It is understandable for Muslim leaders living in the West and those living as minorities in non-Muslim lands. Their hands and feet are tied. In fact they should become Sufees, a patient, suffering lot of believing Muslims, unable to say a word or two. As for those who support aggression by supporting America, they have a lot to fear, as was rightly declared by Deputy Sheriff, Howard of Australia. This fear is from Allah, for the unjust have a lot to fear from the deranged, insane and crazy.

The question that arises here is: "What has happened to the backbone of Muslim leaders from Muslim Nations?" Take for example Saudi – a staunch supporter of America to look after their interest which was basically directed towards Iran – take a look at them as see what they are going through these days. In the end the Qur’an is never wrong in its advise, concerning those who prefer the kafir to fellow Muslims.

How can we ever expect acts of terrorism to end just like, when we see Spanish soldiers being shipped out to Iraq wearing badges reading, "Moor Killers"? The Guardian reported that a row broke out in Spain after the country sent its first troops to patrol Iraq wearing on their shoulders the Cross of St James of Compostela - popularly known in Spain as "the Moor Killer". Patches bearing the cross, the symbol of a saint who allegedly guided the Medieval Christian recapture Spain from the Muslims, are to be worn by a 2,000-strong Spanish brigade in central Iraq, who will patrol the sacred Shia city of Najaf.

While newspapers and radio stations reacted with astonishment at the choice of symbol, politicians avoided the argument. "If we start debating this subject the risks surrounding the mission will only be increased," said a spokesman from the opposition Socialist party, Jesus Caldera. Just observe how conveniently the West goes around things, while Muslim leaders in turn have to act like dogs with their tails under their asses (by being apologetic etc).

The double standards observed by America, its Allies and the West as a whole clearly indicate that the issue of terrorism will never end. There will always be someone to seek martyrdom and justice. What is amazing is that Islam and Muslims are made out to be evil, when the evil ones are those who institute mischief and discord on earth though the use of force and aggression. Therefore, it is important for the world community to get their act together and resolve the root causes of all human discontent that leads to terrorism. [haji mokhtar stork].

THE SIERRA TIMES: Autopsy - No Arabs on Flight 77
by Thomas R. Olmsted, M.D

I am an ex-Naval line officer and a psychiatrist in private practice in New Orleans, a Christian and home-school dad. It troubled me a great deal that we rushed off to war on the flimsiest of evidence. I considered various ways to provide a smoking gun of who and why Sept 11th happened. Astute observers noticed right away that there were no Arabic sounding names on any of the flight manifests of the planes that "crashed" on that day.

A list of names on a piece of paper is not evidence, but an autopsy by a pathologist, is. I undertook by FOIA request, to obtain that autopsy list and you are invited to view it below. Guess what? Still no Arabs on the list. It is my opinion that the monsters who planned this crime made a mistake by not including Arabic names on the original list to make the ruse seem more believable.

When airline disasters occur, airlines will routinely provide a manifest list for anxious families. You may have noticed that even before Sep 11th, that airlines are pretty meticulous about getting an accurate headcount before takeoff. It seems very unlikely to me, that five Arabs sneaked onto a flight with weapons.

This is the list provided by American of the 56 passengers:

On September 27th, the FBI published photos of the "hijackers" of Flight 77:

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), does a miraculous job and identified nearly all the bodies on November 16th 2001.

The AFIP suggest these numbers; 189 killed, 125 worked at the Pentagon and 64 were "passengers" on the plane. The AA list only had 56 and the list just obtained has 58. They did not explain how they were able to tell "victims" bodies from "hijacker" bodies. In fact, from the beginning NO explanation has been given for the extra five suggested in news reports except that the FBI showed us the pictures to make up the difference, and that makes it so.

Now, being the trusting sort, I figured that the government would want to quickly dispel any rumours so we could get on with the chore of kicking Osama/Sadaam’s butt (weren’t these originally two different people?). It seemed simple to me. . produce the names of all the bodies identified by the AFIP and compare it with the publicised list of passengers. So, I sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the AFIP and asked for an expedited response, because we were getting ready to send our boys to war on the pretext that Osama/Sadaam had done the deed. Fourteen months later, a few US soldiers dead, many Iraqi civilians pushing up daisies, and I finally get the list. Believe me that they weren’t a bit happy to give it up, and I really have no idea why they choose now to release it.

No Arabs wound up on the morgue slab; however, three ADDITIONAL people not listed by American Airline sneaked in. I have seen no explanation for these extras. I did give American the opportunity to "revise" their original list, but they have not responded. The new names are: Robert Ploger, Zandra Ploger, and Sandra Teague. The AFIP claims that the only "passenger" body that they were not able to identify is the toddler, Dana Falkenberg, whose parents and young sister are on the list of those identified. The satanic masterminds behind this caper may be feeling pretty smug about the perfect crime, but they have left a raft of clues tying these unfortunates together. Stay tuned for part two to take a much closer look of the cast of characters on this ill-fated flight.

Ignorance Of Islam In Relation To Fundamental Rights

The ignorance of some Muslims over the fundamental rights in relation to Islam (in Malaysia) is quite obvious when you read local media reports. Take for example the news report in the Straits Times Singapore dated 1st January 03 titled: Silent majority behind rising religious intolerance by Brendan Pereira (Malaysian Correspondent for the ST Singapore).
It was reported that a "civil servant (Muslim) may be left with no choice but to take legal action to protect his daughter from religious zealots in her school in Penang. A female disciplinary teacher told the civil servant's 11 year old daughter that she either wear a headscarf or not bother coming to school in the New Year. A visit to the headmaster' said that there is no compulsion but that Muslim girls are encourages to wear the 'tudung'. He said it was not a ministry directive but an initiative of the school.

Another issues that was highlighted in the article was the issue of shaking hands, where some male (Muslim) teachers refused to shake the hands of female students, citing religious reasons.

In analysing this article Muslims need to be weary of several issues at hand. These are as follows:

  1. News reporting in general has always had one objective and that is to discredit Islam. You will never find the media highlighting fundamental principles in Islam that should be adhered to by Muslims. Instead they have a knack of twisting issues. They will take the issue of dress and then relate it to another subject of greater importance (education), whereas both are fundamentally important in Islam. Muslims also have to be weary of being used to serve ungodly causes. Bad enough we have non-Muslims writing in ignorance about Islam and Muslims, but you will also come across Muslims doing the same. Often the truth expressed is omitted from news reports, but whatever he utters in response to negative questions is highlighted, giving the impression that the majority is against existing Islamic trends. All these are concerted efforts under the disguise of fundamental rights of an individual whereas as Muslims we do know that Allah has already defined such areas i.e. dress, conduct, behaviour etc. In the seventies when my first daughter began going to a girl's school, the Headmistress of that school, a Malay Muslim, refused to allow my daughter to wear the tudung. I had to fight for my fundamental Islamic rights. Today it is in reverse.
  2. In the case of hand-shaking, it is explicitly clear that it is prohibited between men and women. However, not to embarrass a person we often accept an outstretched hand. But if it was from another Muslim, I too would not do so. In this respect, it would be better for Muslims to get themselves more acquainted with their religion rather than to act in ignorance and incur Allah's displeasure. It might look great being a champion in the sight of people but despised by Allah with eternal condemnation. On the other hand if you are one of those incapable of submission, then it would be better to turn to Allah in forgiveness.

The problem with most Muslims is that they are ignorant of what is demanded of them by Allah through the Qur'an and the Sunnah of His Messenger. In some of these issues they are straightforward, while in others there is room for flexibility. One of the areas that need to be highlighted is the scope for flexibility. All these issues have new been really dealt with for years and as a result of it Muslim society as a whole has had to live in confusion. q Haji Mokhtar Stork

A Brief Guide To Media Jargon

A wartime atrocity is a regrettable error if you win, a war crime if you lose. If the police charge against a Rightwing demonstration, that's what they are there for, and why did they take so long; However if the demonstration is Leftist, there you have a case of police brutality.

A Communist is a Communist in a Communist State, a Subversive element in a non-Communist State, a Liberal in the United State, a Leftist in Britain, a Gauchiste in France, a follower of Marxism-Leninism-Mao-Tsetung-Thought in China, and a Marxist in Africa. Don't Play Into The Hands Of Extremists - 16th August, 2002

Youssef M. Ibrahim, senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and a former correspondent for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, wrote an article titled, Don't Play Into The Hands Of Extremists for The Washington Post, which was also published by the Straits Times Press, Singapore on 15th August, 2002. The article contained some interesting information concerning the rulers of Saudi Arabia and Wahabism.

The article states that most of the attackers of the Sept. 11th were Saudis, thus causing Wahabism to be entered "into the vocabulary of American policy-makers as almost synonymous with death, destruction and terror." Wahabism seems to be damaging the good relations between the two nations. The article continues to state that "the alliance between the House of Saud - wealthy cosmopolitan, and increasingly Western in tastes and habits - and the proponents of an austere form of Islam based on the literal interpretation of the Qur'an is becoming harder to sustain. An increasing number of newspapers and  commentators, regional leaders and Saudi officials are daring to speak up against the backward  Wahabi version of society...."

The article also continue to state that as a result of many Muslims from abroad working or studying there, many have become influenced by Wahabism, which is extremely austere and rigid. "It tolerates little dialogue and less interpretation. It frown on idolatry, tombstones or the veneration of statues as artworks. Wahabis forbid smoking, shaving off beards, abusive language, rosaries and many rights for women. They regard all those  who do not practise their form of Islam, including other Muslims, as heathens and enemies." The sphere of influence not only arises in Saudi but also covers Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Syria, Morocco, Algeria, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh - almost every Muslim nation whose workers have worked there.

The article continues to states, "these nuances are important for the United States as it wages war against terror and tries to identify its foes. The Bush Administration must better distinguish between Islam and the real enemy - radical extremists within Islam. Otherwise the US risks a collision with 1.2 billion Muslims around the world who do not appreciate being demonised - as Saudi officials felt they were the other day by a report leaked to the Washington Post - just because they disagree with American policies in the Middle East or American plans to invade Iraq."

Equally interesting was a heading titled, "Why even allies are now anti-US" published in the Straits Times Press, Singapore dated 15th August, 2002. It listed the following in bullet list form:

This article state that the goodwill the world felt over Sept.11th has disappeared with Bush's attitude which centres on  "arrogance and incompetence," causing distress to many allies in Europe and the rest of the world.

On my part, there seem to be a view oddities here and there. Why has Saudi Arabia suddenly come into the limelight? Not long ago there was a call to boycott Saudi oil. The Saudis are of the view that because they came up with a Middle East Plan, which of course is not favourable to the Israelis, a smear campaign seem to be taking place against them with information being leaked to the press. It like the Catholic Church suddenly coming into the limelight over the sodomising of youngsters, a fact that even my dad knew off during his lifetime! Why? Just because the Church did let down the Jews during Hitler's rule?

As for Saudi royalty and the Wahabis, I would say that the populace in general don't like their royalty that much because their conduct as a whole does not reflect Islam in general. In the same way, society also just goes along with Wahabism. Given the opportunity they would throw it off as many can be found doing so when they go abroad. What the West has ignored is that American presence has overstayed itself in the Gulf. What most Muslims are unhappy about is the stranglehold that they are in as a result of "hidden agendas" taking place in the area, where American interest seems to be more important than resolving issues, which have been kept in the boiling pot for too long.

I believe that if we are sincere and really want to resolve things, they can be done provided fair play and justice is applied. Otherwise there is bound to be mistrust. One can't speak about terrorism and at the same time act like a terrorist. But this is our world of today, where those in power are not the real people in power, because they were put in power to serve those who have real power. This is indeed difficult to overcome. There are only two choices, namely, to go along or to be disgraced or even bummed off. History has a good record of such. q Haji Mokhtar Stork

PATROLLING THE STRAITS OF AMERCIA
It would be in America's interest if they were sincere about safeguarding the Straits of Malacca, to provide the ships and training to the Malaysian, Singaporean and Indonesian navies to provide the necessary protection to shipping along these waters, rather than to get involved directly, which in truth is none of their business, considering the fact that American motives are proven to be questionable, unreliable and devious. Nations that have allowed America a foothold are now trapped in the American syndrome. They have lost their independence and are in fact held hostage. This is something that has to be avoided. Therefore, if America is truly concerned about security and safety of the Straits, they should only finance and support nations in the region to fulfill this task.

Asean on the other hand should wake up to the possibilities and come to a consensus to developing a task force to undertake this task. This is important because piracy has been common for years without nothing much being done to handle it, thus granting the opportunity to America to intervene.
