Japanese War Crimes: The Real Issues At Hand
Haji Mokhtar Stork [based on news reports]This
simple statement more or less sums up the attitude of people, where in the
case of the Japanese, they feel that they were unjustly nuked by America,
while the China and Korea feel that the Japanese have not acknowledged their
atrocities, and still continue to gloss over them in a righteous manner.
This is the general view presented to the world by
Though
I was born during the Japanese occupation and did not know much about it,
but my mom and aunts did tell me of the brutality they suffered at the hands
of the Japanese. Many were killed by them. And though the time has come to
move forward issues still need to be addressed for we live in a civilised
society. But apparently sophist iced man has other manipulative agenda on
the menu, often making use of the ordinary man to fulfill them, and it is
here that we lack sincerity and honesty. THE END
TSUNAMI - Act Of God or Act Of Nature?
Our hearts do go out to all in pain. No one would wish even for his enemy such a disaster but these things (tidal waves, earthquakes, tornadoes, typhoons etc) all do take place from time to time. Are these Acts of Nature or are they Acts of God? Is there a difference between September 11th and what took place recently in the form of a Tsunami?
Since we are all raised in a secular manner, our education is linked to science rather than to God. And as a result of this we are made to believe that these are Acts of Nature rather than Acts of God. Not long ago there was a headline on the Internet saying, "Are You Prepared For A Visit By Nature", a reference to an approaching Hurricane heading for the Americas. Well, to a certain extent this is true but it is also incomplete because it only provides one part of the overall answer.
The thing about science is that no matter how advanced it is, it cannot really solve a problem. For example, you can place a whole series of sensors on the ocean bed to detect Tsunamis but you will be able to only issue a warning, and each warning sets off an exodus of people costing millions of dollars. Hawaii has experienced many such instances. What this indicates is that the last say lies with God, and all it takes is one command from Him to "Be" and it "Becomes!" Science can only help you understand what God (Allah) has set into motion in the form of what is known to us as The Laws of Nature, The Law of Causation etc. In the Qur'an these are referred to as "His Fitrah". What this also means is that God (Allah) does not go about waving a magic wand, but rather it is human behaviour that leads to accountability bringing about His blessing or His punishment. September 11th is such an example, likewise earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons etc. Do ask "Where Was God?" Instead ask, "Why Are You Visited By God?"
The Scriptures of the Bible and the Qur'an do inform us of such devastating events. They include the flood at the time of the Prophet Noah, the events surrounding Sodom and Gomorrah, the era of the Prophet Moses and Pharaoh, A'd and Thamud and many others examples of God's wrath on a sinful disobedient people. The only reason why many are not able to relate the Scriptures to present day existent is simply because of the secular way we have been raised. To many those are past events taking place in the presence of Prophets. Today they are Acts of Nature! The truth is, there is no difference between those events and what takes place today. They all come under the orbit of God (Allah), for nothing takes place without His consent.
Now if we move down the ladder of events, nations and individuals are involved in all calamities, and when we examine these according to Islam, we have to consider the following features:
3. The conduct and behaviour of a nation - Is it a corrupt one, a sinful one etc? Have its citizens failed to fulfil the Qur'anic command of calling people to goodness and prohibiting evil?
Now if look at those nations that were affected by the Tsunami what do they represent?
As for infants and children, they are exempted from punishment and are granted immediate entry into Allah's heaven because they have not reached the age of maturity for accountability to take place upon them. As for individual, those who sincerely believe in none other but Allah and fulfilled their obligations to Him by obeying Him, will enjoy His mercy and may even gain martyrdom in accordance with their state of piety and righteousness.
Finally, every Act of God (Allah) takes on two forms, namely in the form of Purification or in the form of Punishment. These are indeed times to ponder and reflect upon the greatness and power of God (Allah). It is a reminder to us all that we who walk on this earth, should walk upon it with respect, because the Angel of Death is always a step behind us, awaiting Allah's command to strike. And when he does so, he offers no mercy except to those who submit themselves to God (Allah) only.
UPDATE
If you doubts over what I have said then consider these points. There was hardly any fish (when compared in numbers to human loss) thrown up on any beach nor were there many animals dead. In Thailand, a mahoot said that elephants sounded the alarm twice before danger was noticed. These elephants broke their chains and fled to higher ground. Some say animals have a sixth sense but from an Islamic point of view they were created at the lower rung of the ladder and as such are free from accountability and were in fact directed to freedom by Allah.. A recent report by Channel News Asia, Singapore also showed a mosque on the island of Phuket, Thailand untouched by the tidal wave. This too is another sign from Allah. Only those who have the insight to perceive the hand of Allah at work will be able to understand the truth.
Apart from this I did receive an e-mail from a friend of mine who acquired this notion that the Tsunami had something to do with an American conspiracy, hydrogen bomb testing on the seabed etc. Well, the world is full of conspirators with good imaginations, minus the facts or evidence to support their arguments. THE END.

Despite
a natural human tendency to be shocked into silence by the sheer number
of dead and injured across Asia on 26 December 2004, and despite also
being slightly fearful of losing personal credibility because of the
magnitude of the apparent crime, there are many provable irregularities
in the official American tsunami story that simply have to be recorded
now, or forever be lost in the sands of time.
It is beyond any doubt that a giant tidal wave (tsunami) smashed its way
through South and South East Asia, and still had enough legs to continue
all the way across the Indian Ocean to
To
make any sense at all of the irregularities, we must start at the very
beginning, and then follow the course of events as they unfold,
especially events in the immediate vicinity of the real tsunami
epicentre, because the latter is quite different from the location being
remorselessly peddled by the New York Times and CNN.
At
midday local Australian time I faithfully recorded the magnitude and
position plotted by the Jakarta Geophysical Office in
This location is approximately 250 miles south of the position later selected by the American NOAA, which plotted the epicenter to the north-west of Aceh, and initially claimed a Richter reading of 8.0. Alas, even that was not enough to cover the damage caused by this extraordinary event, so NOAA progressively upgraded the reading to 8.5, then to 8.9, and finally to 9.0 - at least for the present.
So,
the first proven irregularities were peddled by American officials at
the NOAA, who suddenly invented a new 'flexible' peak seismic wave for
the event, of far greater magnitude than
Quite
apart from the huge disparity in Richter values, the Indonesians and
Indians were disturbed to find that the normal earthquake 'preamble' was
missing from their seismograph charts. All this means is that the normal
steadily increasing number of transverse shear "S" waves that
always precede an earthquake were missing, as were later aftershocks,
which likewise always accompany a naturally occurring or Tesla
standing-wave generated earthquake. There were 'warnings' of aftershocks
from the NOAA, but none actually eventuated.
To
simplify matters for non-technical readers, an earthquake is always
triggered by a resonant electromagnetic frequency in the range 0.5 to 12
Hertz, but it is not an instant process, because the resonant frequency
must be precise. Thus as true resonance approaches, the fault line
starts to tremble like a piece of rope under tension, and sends out
warnings to the seismographs in the form of steadily increasing
transverse shear waves.
If
all you get is a cluster of "P" compression waves, then you
are almost certainly looking at an underground or sub sea explosion.
These were in fact the only copious seismic signals that the Indonesians
and Indians received, and they looked curiously similar to those
generated many years ago by large underground nuclear weapons in

away from the prying eyes of dock spies or imaginary KGB agents. But
oops, first you have to know who was involved. Out of Hong Kong rushed
team one, comprised of the nuclear-powered USS Abraham Lincoln and her
escort vessels, while the far more interesting team two rushed out of
Guam, led by the USS Bonhomme Richard, a marine amphibious assault
carrier crammed to the gunwales with gun-toting wooden tops. And that is
not all, believe me, because the Bonhomme Richard is in fact leading a
veritable armada known as "Expeditionary Strike Group 5".
Flagship
USS Bonhomme Richard is accompanied by the U.S.S. Duluth, an amphibious
transport dock vessel; the USS Rushmore, a landing ship dock; the guided
missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill, guided missile destroyer USS Milius,
and the guided missile frigate USS Thach. To take care of the underwater
side of things they are joined by the nuclear hunter-killer submarine
USS Pasadena, while the U.S. Coast Guard's high-endurance cutter Munro
is also tagging along, presumably to deal with Asian Customs and Excise.
Now
then, though 'Strike Group 5' may be toting enough nuclear weapons to
destroy half of the known world, and the title is perhaps lacking when
viewed from a strictly humanitarian perspective, engineer chief Staff
Sgt. Julio C. Dominguez says otherwise: "The Marine Service Support
Group has been preparing for a humanitarian mission of this type for
about 12 months now, and is more prepared for an actual mission".
Well, OK chief, but didn't you ask why you were being trained for a
mysterious humanitarian mission a year before it actually happened,
especially when your day job is normally shooting Muslims full of holes?
Theoretically,
the American 9 megaton W-53 thermonuclear warhead could easily be
encased in a small 'look-alike' saturation diving chamber similar to
that on the right, to protect it from the massive 10,000 pounds per

armoured package would weigh less than five tons, allowing it to be

I
will be circumspect as to exactly how a large American thermonuclear
weapon managed to arrive at the bottom of the Sumatran Trench, though
all of the seismic evidence and preparedness for the resulting mission
indicates strongly that this is the case. After all, we are back to the
age-old question of "who benefits?", and in this particular

Those
who wish to understand how such a seemingly small weapon could rattle a
20,000 feet-deep oceanic trench, and then force a giant tsunami right
across the Indian Ocean, would do well to look at the diagram of the
famous 'Dambusters' attacking the German dam below, most of which is
self-explanatory. The designer of the RAF's bouncing bomb (actually
called "Highball") was a scientist called Barnes Wallace, who
had already gained a formidable reputation with his
Wallace
knew that bombing the dams vertically was a complete waste of time, and
the only possibility of success lay in placing a mine hard up against
the dam wall at its base. You see, water cannot be compressed, meaning
that if the mine was pressed against the dam wall at the moment of
detonation, part of its energy would automatically be expended on the
wall itself. Too far away in the relatively shallow water, and most of
the blast energy would be lost to atmosphere, in a huge exploding cloud
of water of course.
Though
it was obvious that the dam wall could not be destroyed by a single bomb
from a single
It
is the incompressibility of water in particular that matters deep down
in the Sumatran Trench. At the bottom you already have 10,000 pounds of
pressure per square inch pressing down on your weapon of choice, and
above that weapon there is a column of water 20,000 feet tall, which is
what caused the pressure in the first place. Not only that. The trench
narrows at the bottom, meaning that the weapon is 'hemmed-in', with a
very real chance of moving a tectonic plate if sufficient tonnage is
used.
In
this particular case there was no real need to shift a tectonic plate,
and science suggests that if this blast had caused such an effect,
several very powerful aftershocks would have occurred, as has happened
with every other major earthquake in the past. But, as previously
stated, and setting aside the seemingly deliberate provocative though
false warnings from the American NOAA, there has not been a single
aftershock which can be directly & scientifically linked to the
'event' in the Sumatran Trench at 0758 hours local on 26 December 2004.
Later tremors might or might not be connected to the weapon.

Islam Is Against Terrorism: A distorted Perception
Of late there have been many books published by Muslims declaring that Islam Is Against Terrorism. Much of this material is apologetic in nature, coined by His Majesty’s Service and Loyal Servants of the West. To truly understand what terrorism is all about one has to understand the factors can cause it to exist in the first place, and in this context the Malaysian Prime Minister’s statement is valid when he says that we have to get down to the root cause of such problems.
After years of reading the daily news J. M. Andrade has come up with the following. He said that people's interest in political definitions is very commendable. "Allow me to assure you that they are by no means the only people who are confused by such remarkable display of double standards in every day life - in fact a small dictionary was published in France years ago to try to explain media jargon."
"Briefly, bandits are terrorists if you are fighting them, guerrillas if you are not, and freedom fighters if you want them to win, and guerrillas (or 'boys from the bush') afterwards. A government or regime if it shows no desire to surrender to its enemies - or (just to make things more interesting) after it does surrender, usually through lack of the will to win. Likewise, a murderer is a criminal if not politically motivated, an extremists or a terrorist if he is a right-winger, and an urban guerrilla if he is a Marxist;; in the later case, if he is arrested he becomes a political prisoner and his trial is seen as a politically motivated act of vengeance.
"A wartime atrocity is a regrettable error if you win, a war crime if you lose. If the police charge against a Rightwing demonstration, that's what they are there for, and why did they take so long; However if the demonstration is Leftist, there you have a case of police brutality."
"A Communist is a Communist in a Communist State, a Subversive element in a non-Communist State, a Liberal in the United State, a Leftist in Britain, a Gauchiste in France, a follower of Marxism-Leninism-Mao-Tsetung-Thought in China, and a Marxist in Africa. An Anti-Communist is as one progresses towards deeper and deeper shades of pink, a starry-eyed dreamer, an old fashioned bigot, a reactionary, a fascist, a Nazi and an enemy of the people. Orwell would undoubtedly say that one must really be a double-plus-good double-thinker to understand what all those headlines and broadcasts are all about."
Under the 'New World Order' of today the Palestinians who lost their land are looked upon as terrorists for reclaiming it. A Muslim on the whole is viewed as a Fundamentalist, Extremist or Terrorist - a threat to world peace. We are made to believe that terrorism is evil when it is performed by Muslims, but holy when America, and its allies, and Israel perform acts of terror.
Al-Qaradhawi Speaks On The Legitimacy Of Martyrdom Operations
During the first week of July 2003, the European Council for Fatwa and Research convened in Stockholm for its 11th session. The council, which was established in 1997 in the U.K., is comprised primarily of Islamic scholars from the Arab world and is headed by Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi, one of the most influential clerics in Sunni Islam and amongst Islamist groups and organisations. The council convenes every few months in a European city to conduct discussions and issue Fatwas on questions concerning Muslim communities in the West. Following differences of opinion on the matter of martyrdom bombings during the previous session (convened in Dublin in January 2003), the council decided to research the matter and bring it up for discussion at the July session..
Though the Stockholm conference was called "Jihad and Denying its Connection to Terror," the five reports that were presented focused on dictionary definitions of the word "terror." The London-based Arabic language daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported at length on the research by Sheikh Al-Qaradhawi, who classified terror according to the following categories: colonialist terror, state terror, international terror, political terror, terror that is permitted by Islamic law, terror that is prohibited by Islamic law, and martyrdom operations. The following are excerpts from the report:
Martyrdom Operations
"The martyrdom operations carried out by the Palestinian factions to resist the Zionist occupation are not in any way included in the framework of prohibited terrorism, even if the victims include some civilians. This is for several reasons:
First of all, due to the colonialist, occupational, racist, and [plundering] nature of Israeli society, it is, in fact, a military society. Anyone past childhood, man or woman, is drafted into the Israeli army. Every Israeli is a solider in the army, either in practical terms or because he is a reservist soldier who can be summoned at any time for war. This fact needs no proof. Those they call 'civilians' are in effect 'soldiers' in the army of the sons of Zion.
Second, Israeli society has a unique trait that makes it different from the other human societies, and that is that as far as the people of Palestine are concerned, it is a 'society of invaders' who came from outside the region - from Russia or America, from Europe or from the lands of the Orient - to occupy Palestine and settle in it..."
"Those who are invaded have the right to fight the invaders with all means at their disposal in order to remove [the invaders] from their homes and send them back to the homes from whence they came... This is a Jihad of necessity, as the clerics call it, and not Jihad of choice... Even if an innocent child is killed as a result of this Jihad - it was not intended, but rather due to the necessities of the war... Even with the passage of time, these [Israeli] so-called 'civilians' do not stop being invaders, evil, tyrants, and oppressors..."
"Third... It has been determined by Islamic law that the blood and property of people of Dar Al-Harb [the Domain of Disbelief where the battle for the domination of Islam should be waged] is not protected. Because they fight against and are hostile towards the Muslims, they annulled the protection of his blood and his property."
"Fourth, the Muslim clerics, or most of them, have agreed that it is permissible to kill Muslims if the army that attacks the Muslims hides behind them, that is, uses them as barricades or human shields, and sets them at the front so that the fire, arrows, or spears of the Muslims will harm them first. The clerics have permitted the defenders to kill these innocent Muslims, who were forced to stand at the head of the army of their enemies... Otherwise the invading army will enter and annihilate their offspring and their harvests. There was no choice but to sacrifice some [of the Muslims] in order to defend the entire [Muslim] community... Therefore, if it is permitted to kill innocent Muslims who are under coercion in order to protect the greater Muslim community, it is all the more so permissible to kill non-Muslims in order to liberate the land of the Muslims from its occupiers and oppressors.
Fifth, in modern war, all of society, with all its classes and ethnic groups, is mobilised to participate in the war, to aid its continuation, and to provide it with the material and human fuel required for it to assure the victory of the state fighting its enemies. Every citizen in society must take upon himself a role in the effort to provide for the battle. The entire domestic front, including professionals, labourers, and industrialists, stands behind the fighting army, even if it does not bear arms. Therefore the experts say that the Zionist entity, in truth, is one army.
Sixth, there are two types of Fatwas: Fatwas concerning a situation of calm and choice, and Fatwas concerning a situation of distress and necessity. It is permissible for a Muslim, when in a situation of extreme necessity, to do what is prohibited to him [in circumstances allowing] choice... Thus, one of the clerics has espoused the rule: 'Necessities permit prohibitions.' Our brothers in Palestine are, without a doubt, in a situation of extreme necessity to carry out martyrdom operations in order to unsettle their enemies and the plunderers of their land and to sow horror in their hearts so that they will leave, and return to the places from whence they came..."
"What weapon can harm their enemy, can prevent him from sleeping, and can strip him of a sense of security and stability, except for these human bombs - a young man or woman who blows himself or herself up amongst their enemy. This is a weapon the likes of which the enemy cannot obtain, even if the U.S. provides it with billions [of dollars] and the most powerful weapons, because it is a unique weapon that Allah has placed only in the hands of the men of belief. It is a type of divine justice on the face of the earth... it is the weapon of the wretched weak in the face of the powerful tyrant..."Those Who Oppose Martyrdom Operations and Claim that they are Suicide are Making a Great Mistake
"Those who oppose martyrdom operations and claim that they are suicide are making a great mistake. The goals of the one who carries out a martyrdom operation and of the one who commits suicide are completely different. Anyone who analyses the soul of [these two] will discover the huge difference between them. The [person who commits] suicide kills himself for himself, because he failed in business, love, an examination, or the like. He was too weak to cope with the situation and chose to flee life for death. In contrast, the one who carries out a martyrdom operation does not think of himself. He sacrifices himself for the sake of a higher goal, for which all sacrifices become meaningless. He sells himself to Allah in order to buy Paradise in exchange. Allah said: 'Allah has bought from the believers their souls and their properties for they shall inherit Paradise.'
"While the [person who commits] suicide dies in escape and retreat, the one who carries out a martyrdom operation dies in advance and attack. Unlike the [person who commits] suicide, who has no goal except escape from confrontation, the one who carries out a martyrdom operation has a clear goal, and that is to please Allah..."
The Guardian reported, under the heading, "The Right To Resist" saying, "It would have been hard to predict in advance that the US and British occupation of Iraq could go so spectacularly wrong so quickly. The words of the historian Tacitus about the Roman invasion of Scotland in the first century AD might just as well have been written about our latter-day Rome's latest imperial adventure: "They create a wasteland and they call it peace."
"In Britain, the unravelling of what US deputy secretary of defence, Paul Wolfowitz, called the "bureaucratic" pretext for war - the supposed threat from Iraqi chemical and biological weapons - has created the most serious political crisis for Tony Blair's government in six years and removed the last vestige of possible legality from the aggression."
"With no sign of any such weapons on the ground in Iraq, intelligence leaks and the withering accounts of former cabinet ministers Clare Short and Robin Cook have stripped bare the ultimate New Labour spin operation. Polls show most British people are now convinced the government deliberately exaggerated the evidence that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction to bounce public and parliament into war. Not surprisingly, attitudes to the conflict itself are also beginning to turn. Add to that the rampant lawlessness, insecurity, looting of all public institutions, destruction of national treasures, epidemic of murder and robbery, and it is little wonder that most Iraqis appear to find it hard to see themselves as having been liberated. And far from being lower than expected, the number of Iraqi civilians killed is now estimated - on the basis of hospital, mortuary and media records - to have been between 5,500 and 7,200, while Iraqi military deaths are thought to run into tens of thousands."
"It also helps to explain the scale of civil and armed resistance, which is concentrated in the Sunni triangle to the north and west of Baghdad. Around 50 US soldiers have been killed by Iraqi fighters since the war was declared won - getting on for half the number killed in the war itself. A series of punitive counter-insurgency operations by US troops in the past week has led to the capture and deaths of hundreds of Iraqis - sweeping up many innocents in the process - but appears to have had no impact on the level of attacks. US commanders have branded the guerillas "subversives" and even "terrorists", or tried to dismiss them as "remnants" of the regime. The evidence suggests that while Ba'athists form part of the resistance, that is far from being the whole picture."
But what they cannot by any sensible reckoning be called are terrorists - nor does the US have any right to try guerillas who attack occupation troops as criminals, which Bremer announced it plans to do this week. It is an almost universally accepted principle that a people occupied by a foreign power has the right to use armed force to resist - though whether force will be the best tactic is another matter. It was the crudest self-delusion on the part of the invading states to imagine that because most Iraqis wanted an end to the Saddam regime they would accept the imposition of a foreign occupation to replace it. s.milne@guardian.co.uk - Thursday June 19, 2003
Muslim leaders and Muslim nations should not fall for such gimmicks nor believe that Islam is against terrorism. Had this been true then the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. could not have fulfilled his mission, as the pagan Quraish were the established authority, just as America is today, and any changes introduced by the Prophet s.a.w. would have made him a terrorist to the Quraish, the Persian Empire and Roman Empire. Therefore in addressing this issue one has to view the fundamental principles of justice which we don’t see taking place today; where America, the West and the U.N. have all failed to bring about just solutions to world issues. And it is this over boiling pot that has led to frustration, desperation, anger and hatred towards the West as a whole.
It is understandable for Muslim leaders living in the West and those living as minorities in non-Muslim lands. Their hands and feet are tied. In fact they should become Sufees, a patient, suffering lot of believing Muslims, unable to say a word or two. As for those who support aggression by supporting America, they have a lot to fear, as was rightly declared by Deputy Sheriff, Howard of Australia. This fear is from Allah, for the unjust have a lot to fear from the deranged, insane and crazy.
The question that arises here is: "What has happened to the backbone of Muslim leaders from Muslim Nations?" Take for example Saudi – a staunch supporter of America to look after their interest which was basically directed towards Iran – take a look at them as see what they are going through these days. In the end the Qur’an is never wrong in its advise, concerning those who prefer the kafir to fellow Muslims.
How can we ever expect acts of terrorism to end just like, when we see Spanish soldiers being shipped out to Iraq wearing badges reading, "Moor Killers"? The Guardian reported that a row broke out in Spain after the country sent its first troops to patrol Iraq wearing on their shoulders the Cross of St James of Compostela - popularly known in Spain as "the Moor Killer". Patches bearing the cross, the symbol of a saint who allegedly guided the Medieval Christian recapture Spain from the Muslims, are to be worn by a 2,000-strong Spanish brigade in central Iraq, who will patrol the sacred Shia city of Najaf.
While newspapers and radio stations reacted with astonishment at the choice of symbol, politicians avoided the argument. "If we start debating this subject the risks surrounding the mission will only be increased," said a spokesman from the opposition Socialist party, Jesus Caldera. Just observe how conveniently the West goes around things, while Muslim leaders in turn have to act like dogs with their tails under their asses (by being apologetic etc).
The double standards observed by America, its Allies and the West as a whole clearly indicate that the issue of terrorism will never end. There will always be someone to seek martyrdom and justice. What is amazing is that Islam and Muslims are made out to be evil, when the evil ones are those who institute mischief and discord on earth though the use of force and aggression. Therefore, it is important for the world community to get their act together and resolve the root causes of all human discontent that leads to terrorism. [haji mokhtar stork].

The AFIP suggest these numbers; 189 killed, 125 worked at the Pentagon and 64 were "passengers" on the plane. The AA list only had 56 and the list just obtained has 58. They did not explain how they were able to tell "victims" bodies from "hijacker" bodies. In fact, from the beginning NO explanation has been given for the extra five suggested in news reports except that the FBI showed us the pictures to make up the difference, and that makes it so.
Now, being the trusting sort, I figured that the government would want to quickly dispel any rumours so we could get on with the chore of kicking Osama/Sadaam’s butt (weren’t these originally two different people?). It seemed simple to me. . produce the names of all the bodies identified by the AFIP and compare it with the publicised list of passengers. So, I sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the AFIP and asked for an expedited response, because we were getting ready to send our boys to war on the pretext that Osama/Sadaam had done the deed. Fourteen months later, a few US soldiers dead, many Iraqi civilians pushing up daisies, and I finally get the list. Believe me that they weren’t a bit happy to give it up, and I really have no idea why they choose now to release it.
No Arabs wound up on the morgue slab; however, three ADDITIONAL people not listed by American Airline sneaked in. I have seen no explanation for these extras. I did give American the opportunity to "revise" their original list, but they have not responded. The new names are: Robert Ploger, Zandra Ploger, and Sandra Teague. The AFIP claims that the only "passenger" body that they were not able to identify is the toddler, Dana Falkenberg, whose parents and young sister are on the list of those identified. The satanic masterminds behind this caper may be feeling pretty smug about the perfect crime, but they have left a raft of clues tying these unfortunates together. Stay tuned for part two to take a much closer look of the cast of characters on this ill-fated flight.
Another issues that was highlighted in the article was the issue of shaking hands, where some male (Muslim) teachers refused to shake the hands of female students, citing religious reasons.
In analysing this article Muslims need to be weary of several issues at hand. These are as follows:
The problem with most Muslims is that they are ignorant of what is demanded of them by Allah through the Qur'an and the Sunnah of His Messenger. In some of these issues they are straightforward, while in others there is room for flexibility. One of the areas that need to be highlighted is the scope for flexibility. All these issues have new been really dealt with for years and as a result of it Muslim society as a whole has had to live in confusion. q Haji Mokhtar Stork

A wartime atrocity is a regrettable error if you win, a war crime if you lose. If the police charge against a Rightwing demonstration, that's what they are there for, and why did they take so long; However if the demonstration is Leftist, there you have a case of police brutality.
A Communist is a Communist in a Communist State, a Subversive element in a non-Communist State, a Liberal in the United State, a Leftist in Britain, a Gauchiste in France, a follower of Marxism-Leninism-Mao-Tsetung-Thought in China, and a Marxist in Africa.
Haji Mokhtar Stork

Don't Play Into The Hands Of Extremists - 16th August, 2002
Youssef M. Ibrahim, senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and a former correspondent for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, wrote an article titled, Don't Play Into The Hands Of Extremists for The Washington Post, which was also published by the Straits Times Press, Singapore on 15th August, 2002. The article contained some interesting information concerning the rulers of Saudi Arabia and Wahabism.
The article states that most of the attackers of the Sept. 11th were Saudis, thus causing Wahabism to be entered "into the vocabulary of American policy-makers as almost synonymous with death, destruction and terror." Wahabism seems to be damaging the good relations between the two nations. The article continues to state that "the alliance between the House of Saud - wealthy cosmopolitan, and increasingly Western in tastes and habits - and the proponents of an austere form of Islam based on the literal interpretation of the Qur'an is becoming harder to sustain. An increasing number of newspapers and commentators, regional leaders and Saudi officials are daring to speak up against the backward Wahabi version of society...."
The article also continue to state that as a result of many Muslims from abroad working or studying there, many have become influenced by Wahabism, which is extremely austere and rigid. "It tolerates little dialogue and less interpretation. It frown on idolatry, tombstones or the veneration of statues as artworks. Wahabis forbid smoking, shaving off beards, abusive language, rosaries and many rights for women. They regard all those who do not practise their form of Islam, including other Muslims, as heathens and enemies." The sphere of influence not only arises in Saudi but also covers Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Syria, Morocco, Algeria, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh - almost every Muslim nation whose workers have worked there.
The article continues to states, "these nuances are important for the United States as it wages war against terror and tries to identify its foes. The Bush Administration must better distinguish between Islam and the real enemy - radical extremists within Islam. Otherwise the US risks a collision with 1.2 billion Muslims around the world who do not appreciate being demonised - as Saudi officials felt they were the other day by a report leaked to the Washington Post - just because they disagree with American policies in the Middle East or American plans to invade Iraq."
Equally interesting was a heading titled, "Why even allies are now anti-US" published in the Straits Times Press, Singapore dated 15th August, 2002. It listed the following in bullet list form:
This article state that the goodwill the world felt over Sept.11th has disappeared with Bush's attitude which centres on "arrogance and incompetence," causing distress to many allies in Europe and the rest of the world.
On my part, there seem to be a view oddities here and there. Why has Saudi Arabia suddenly come into the limelight? Not long ago there was a call to boycott Saudi oil. The Saudis are of the view that because they came up with a Middle East Plan, which of course is not favourable to the Israelis, a smear campaign seem to be taking place against them with information being leaked to the press. It like the Catholic Church suddenly coming into the limelight over the sodomising of youngsters, a fact that even my dad knew off during his lifetime! Why? Just because the Church did let down the Jews during Hitler's rule?
As for Saudi royalty and the Wahabis, I would say that the populace in general don't like their royalty that much because their conduct as a whole does not reflect Islam in general. In the same way, society also just goes along with Wahabism. Given the opportunity they would throw it off as many can be found doing so when they go abroad. What the West has ignored is that American presence has overstayed itself in the Gulf. What most Muslims are unhappy about is the stranglehold that they are in as a result of "hidden agendas" taking place in the area, where American interest seems to be more important than resolving issues, which have been kept in the boiling pot for too long.
I believe that if we are sincere and really want to resolve things, they can be done provided fair play and justice is applied. Otherwise there is bound to be mistrust. One can't speak about terrorism and at the same time act like a terrorist. But this is our world of today, where those in power are not the real people in power, because they were put in power to serve those who have real power. This is indeed difficult to overcome. There are only two choices, namely, to go along or to be disgraced or even bummed off. History has a good record of such. q Haji Mokhtar Stork
