ARE WE DIFFERENT!?
Lonnie Bond, Washington
In fact, everyone who wants to live a Godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
2 Tim. 3:12
Paul clearly states that we
will be persecuted for believing in Christ Jesus. The world makes itself
feel better by persecuting or making fun of those who are different. Believers
were killed, imprisoned, stoned and harassed continually in the early days of
the church. We, as believers today have it mild compared to them. How may of us
would want to trade places with them?
We are here at this
appointed time for God’s will and purpose to do His good work. Remember He is
in control, not us. God created everything and will direct it according to how
He sees fit!
We are different; we are
not of this world. If the world cannot see a difference in the way we live,
something is wrong! Jesus is light; He should be
shinning like a beacon through us to the lost of this world. The love of Jesus should be evident in our
lives, if not we need to do some serious meditating in God’s Word. We need to
get our hearts, our mind and our sprit in line with God’s purpose. After all –
it’s all about JESUS, not us. (It’s
who Jesus is, not what we have done or who we are, but what Jesus has done!)
For God did
not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and
self-discipline.
2 Tim 1:7
We as Christians need to
be bold in spirit, in love and in self-discipline; showing people that we love
as Jesus does. Imagine if you told someone about the love
of Jesus, and then they heard you talk about someone you
did not like, or they saw you acting as the world does. They will not want
anything to do with Jesus. That is not our mission
in proclaiming the Gospel, if we are to be Christ-like, we must act like Him in
every aspect of our life. The world is lost and deceived, controlled by its
wants and lusts. Should we really care what the world thinks of us?
Paul says in Romans 1:16 – that
he is not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. It’s time we stop being timid and
worried about how the world perceives us. If we do not show the world the love
of Jesus how do you think it will see His love?
We pray for God to send out His laborers to bring His Word of Salvation,
love and compassion to people, who do we think those laborers are? They are US, the body of Christ!
God bless your year with
boldness!
