Berlin Wall
In downtown Las Vegas inside
Main Street Station casino
there's an actual wall made from a sizable chunk of the original
Berlin Wall, still covered with original graffiti....and it's
in the Men's room supporting the urinals! Yes, you can "pee
on" the Berlin Wall (if male):

How to
Pronounce NEVADA
Not sure if this is actually a "lesser known" fact but I
believe a majority of Americans do mispronounce "Nevada." Most
people (not from Nevada) say it with the middle syllable as
"ah" whereas in the correct pronunciation the middle
syllable rhymes with the "a" in gamble... I
myself, growing up in
SC, mostly heard it wrong and
therefore said it wrong. Then, being frequently in Vegas I
eventually noticed the local newscasters saying it correctly (initially foreign to my ears). I
then realized probably most of
America has it wrong.
President Bush Mispronounces Nevada
(local newspaper
article published after Bush's visit)
There was some
"toMAYto/toMAHto" hoopla after the above article came
out, but I must side with actual Nevadans on what is actually
"correct"... After all, in
South Carolina we have
Beaufort, Chapin, and Edisto, which South Carolinians know
how to pronounce correctly—regardless
of what an outsider might say/think.
Side
Note (SC-Related)
Chapin = CHAY'pin (not CHAP'in)
Edisto = ED'is-toe (not ed-DISS'toe)
Beaufort = BYOO'fort (not BO'fort)*
(*I know "Beaufort" is pronounced the other way in
North Carolina... That's correct for them, but our way
is correct for South Carolina.)
