Frequently Asked Questions
(and Not-So-Frequently Asked Questions)
Okay, so you're not going to find all the answers here. This is more of a "What questions can I ask you with a reasonable chance of getting an answer?" page than a FAQ. But I had to put this stuff somewhere, so here it is!

Does anyone actually ever ask you these questions?
Well, no, but I picked some questions that I thought people might be interested in and stuck them out here as preventative maintenance. Of course, I don't want to prevent anyone from actually asking questions (or contacting me in general), as I am very interested in hearing from you, so please feel free to contact me at any time!
Why did you change your site structure?
This page has gone under two major structure changes since its inception in 1997. Both times, I felt that the old structure was not meaningful or practical. The structure I am currently implementing should be a better fit for the information I would like to store here, and should be more flexible for future revisions and additions.
Where did the page about __________ go?
Most of the content from the previous revision is still available at another location within this site. Check out the site map if you're having trouble finding it.
Why did you remove the page about ____________?
Most of the pages that were removed were pages that were created for a very specific audience or event. These pages were not being visited much and were certainly not being updated.

If there's something missing that you'd like to see again, feel free to contact me!
Why don't you use frames?
Way back when I started this site (in 1998) and first learned HTML, frames were just starting to catch on and be popular. Unfortunately, at that time, they were so new that people didn't know how to use them properly, and not all browsers supported them. Therefore, at the time, I opted to avoid frames and keep the pages simple. Since then, I've had the opportunity to incorporate frames into the site, but I have never been impressed by the use of frames on other web sites and have chosen to avoid them. I like to take the simple approach to web pages, as having more places to click makes it harder for people to know where they're supposed to click.
Why don't your pages have a consistent style?
Every page I create is an artistic expression. I like each page to stylistically reflect the content of the page somehow, and, since each page has unique content, each page also has a unique design. It may be confusing in some ways, but it is more difficult to create a template into which all of the varied content nicely fits.
Why are the question numbers screwed up on this page when I look at the source?
As questions come in, I add them and give them the next available number. I don't renumber everything. That'd be WAY too much work. It's not like you actually need to know the numbers for anything, though.
Who are you, anyway?
I'm me! But, seriously, I'm 25 years old and live in Michigan. I used to work as a System Administrator supporting the Unix computer systems at Gordon Food Service until a psychiatrist and an HR guy totally screwed me over. Now I'm jobless. I graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2001 with a B.S. in Computer Science and am interested in getting further education either in the area of Computer Science or in Psychology. If you're interested in knowing more about me, I do intend to eventually put up an "About Me" page (once I've decided who I am); otherwise, you can write me to ask questions (or just chat).
Why should I care?
No reason. No reason at all.
What sort of drugs are you taking, anyway?!??
Elmiron (sometimes), Pamelor, Levoxyl, Seroquel, Lamictal and Klonipin. All by prescription, of course. I also sometimes take vitamins and fiber suppliments, depending on how brave I'm feeling. I take 7 pills a day on average.
Why do you take all of those?!?!??!?
You may notice (if you visited this site a while ago) that the number has decreased somewhat. I'm trying to get off some things (not that I'm really better - I'm just sick of pills...). Elmiron and Pamelor are for Interstitial Cystitis. Levoxyl is for an enlarged thyroid. Seroquel and Lamictal are for Bipolar Disorder (which I acutally don't have). Klonipin for Anxiety Disorder. You can read about all these (and more) in the medical section of this site.
Why aren't there any pictures of you on your site?
Because I have a really hard time taking pictures of myself (although I found a method using a digital camera and a mirror...). But, seriously, I had some on my site before I rearranged it, and I realized they were really out-of-date, so I took them down. I didn't have any recent ones, so I didn't put any up. Now, however, I finally have some pictures of myself holding Amy's twins. "Who's Amy?" you ask. Let me tell you...
Who's Amy?
Excellent question. One I'll probably go on and on about for a while. Amy is my best friend. No, that doesn't quite cover it. Amy is the person who rescued me from myself in sixth grade and gave me both a will and reason to live ever since then. Amy knows everything about me. And you can't know me without knowing about her. Anyhow, we met in sixth grade (1990ish) and became instant friends. We went to Junior High together, and then went to different high schools (how that happened is a long story... Contact me if you'd like to hear it). We both went to GVSU for college, though, and both managed to stay living in (somewhat) the same area after college, so our friendship has managed to continue (strongly) for that entire time. Amy and I started Tae Kwon Do together in early 1997 and continued together in it until we got our black belts. Amy met her husband there (he actually proposed to her at a Black Belt Workout!), and got married during my last year of college. Since that time, she's had twins, who are the joy of my life. I've got tons of pictures of them posted. To summarize, Amy is a wonderful, beautiful person, and a huge part of my life. I don't know where I'd be without her, and I don't want to know!
