Since I began this series of postings, as a topic of discussion for a newsgroup, I've decided to share the link with those interested, it's a pleasant sidetrip off the Imformation Superhighway.(Sorry, computer users, but it's firewalled for use by webtv only.)
I like to fancy myself as a bit of a roamer, having been to 47 states in my 48 years, but I'm sure this contraption has got me beat.
The sign on the building in the background proclaims "Meacham Motor Museum".
A Metacrawler search turned up the Meacham Museum in Great Britian, and the Powerhouse Museum in Australia, which lists a 1912 Rover amongst it's treasures, a pleasant coincidence.
I'm hoping to make it to both places before my journey ends.
This 1921 Roamer was assembled in Kalamazoo from 1916 until 1930 by the Barkley Motor Company.
Albert C. Barkley, who earlier made the Halladay from Streator, Illinois, sold Roamer frankly as a cheap Rolls-Royce, which it was in radiator shape, if not in any other significant respect.
Roamers featured 4, 6, and 8 cylinder engines by makers such as Continental, Rochester-Duesenberg and Rutenber.
Bodies were offered in both touring and sport styles.
The link below is to the Meacham Museum, and I was hoping someone could make the connection between them and the place in the picture. Not to save me the trip, but to insure I'm headed in the proper direction.
