Thomas Jefferson

On the expedition Lewis and Clark told the Mandans and Hidatsas the Great White Father (Thomas Jefferson) would protect them if they would trade with the Americans than the French or Spanish.  When the Corps got to the 3 forks of the Missouri Lewis and Clark named one of the forks after him.
Jefferson told Lewis and Clark to record everything they saw on their journey to the Pacific.  Jefferson wanted them to find a usable waster route to the Pacific.
Chief Big White of Mandans came with Lewis and Clark to meet Thomas Jefferson.
Though most of America had either given up on the Corps or had forgotten all about them, but Jefferson still held out hope for their survival.
At the end of the expedition Lewis wrote Jefferson they hadn't found a usable water route but the land was a fur trappers dream.
