I grew up in Colorado and the mountains were always a favorite place. My family took various weekend and longer excursions into the mountains and my love for the "high country" grew with each trip. There was something wonderful about the cool mountain breezes, the babbling over rocks sound of water in a brook, and the smell of pine-scented air.
Golden Banner, Rocky Mountain National Park
These Golden Banner flowers were photographed the second week in June in Moraine Park, not too far from the Moraine Park Visitor's Center. There were a number of photographers amidst the flowers so keeping all of them out of the picture was one of the challenges. Waiting for a lull in the wind was the only other difficulty. The film is Fuji Velvia.
Autumn Leaves and Tree Stump
These splendid leaves around this weathered old stump were photographed in the mountains of northern Colorado. This picture was made the third week in September. The film is Kodak Ektachrome Elite 100.
Dove Cloud And Venus Over The Rockies
The sun had long since set when the red glow appeared under the clouds just above the mountains, while white light illuminated the cloud higher up in the sky. The planet Venus is just below the dove-cloud. This picture was taken from a parking lot at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. The film is Kodak Ektachrome 100 Plus Professional.
