Chapter 5:
Teresa sat in her room at 2 in the morning. After the concert her mother had had to stay and help clean up afterwards. Someone had relieved her early, though, because she had Teresa with her. Now in the comfort of her own room, Teresa finally sat down to see what Taylor had handed her. It was a CD. The cover said "The Stranger". It was by Billy Joel. She opened it up. Yet another sheet of paper was folded up inside the case. She opened it. In thin, scribbled handwriting the paper read, "Listen to track 5."

She stuck the disk in her CD player, and skipped to track 5. She put it on repeat and got up to get ready for bed. The beginning did particularly grab her, but the first 5 words caused her to stop what she was doing and stare at the CD player in confusion. She sat down, and listened.

Slow down you crazy child
You're so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you're so smart tell me why
Are you still so afraid?

Where's the fire, what's the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only so many hours in a day

Teresa got up, and walked into the main room of the small apartment she and her mother lived in. She dialed the phone, hoping they were still up. After 2 rings someone picked up and said, "Hello?"

"Is Taylor there?"

"Yes he is. Let me get him."

After a few moments, a new voice said, "Hello?" It was followed by a click that signified the first person had hung up.

"I listened to it, Taylor," she said. "What time are you coming by tomorrow?"
