Pitchshifter: the best opening band I have ever seen. Loud,
fast, and fun to watch, seeing them live makes you wonder why they are almost never the
headlining band here in the US. Listen to Infotainment (their first full-length LP) and you may
believe you've found the reason Pitchshifter is second in line. But, I wouldn't give up on them
there. www.pitcshifter.com, their second full-length release, is a strong, fast, knock-you-on-your-ass,
techno-industrial delight. The singer, J.S. Clayden, is incredibly charismatic and very
entertaining. All of the band members thrash around on stage, and you get the feeling, not
only that they are having as much fun as you are, but also that they might like to jump out in
the audience and join you. They generally play small clubs, but the venue size generally
depends on what band they open for. Personally, I've seen them twice, both times in
the summer of '98, when they opened for Gravity Kills (another band worth checking out). After
Pitchshifter's set, the whole band came out to watch GK play, and after the show ended, both bands
were actively engaging with the crowd.
