ELIZABETH

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF ELIZABETH

My mother, Elizabeth, spent the last years of her life as a patient in the Houghton County Medical Care Facility which is located in Hancock, Michigan. She received excellent care at the facility and enjoyed visits by her family, friends, clergy, church groups, and students from local High Schools, Finlandia University, and Michigan Technological University. During her stay at the Medical Facility she allowed Nursing Students from Finlandia University to practice their learned skills on her numerous physical problems. When the students graduated they insisted that my mother sit on a chair in front of the approxamitely twenty graduating nurses in their white uniforms, standing in two rows behind her, for a class picture. I saw the picture proudly displayed on my mothers picture board in her room. In another instance, a group of students wanted to interview my mother about her life. My mother agreed, and four students, Kelly Abbott, Abbey Strong, Dan Veal, and Eeva Pregitzer, interviewed her and wrote the following four page report reflecting the result of their interview. My mother was a first generation American. I hope you find the story of her life interesting.
