You held me when I was a baby, too small to run or play.
You kissed my cheek with such affection, every single day.
You watched me when I grew too big and left you all alone.
And ran away with other friends, that I could call my own.

You never said an ugly word or made me feel uneasy.
Instead you met me at the door and smiled, so glad to see me.
You shared your laughter, hugged me close,
The warmth I felt, I loved the most.

You gave me all your love and trust,
Took what I offered and never fussed.
You gave all your love, the price was free,
You didn't expect a thing from me.

The lessons you taught, the love you gave,
Can never ever be repaid.
I'll be there for you, to hold your hand.
Through the years ahead, that God has planned.
