Every Time I Close My Eyes - Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Brian and I left the next day for New York. We didn't get to sit next to each other, but he kept running back and forth between our seats just to ask me something, or tell me I'm beautiful. I loved every minuet of it. BJ started crying when we said our goodbyes, which just made me cry terribly. My parents were also there to see me off, and I worried when I saw Brian talking to my dad. He still wont tell me what they said!! I hugged my little brother goodbye, and kissed my mother. I cried a bit after I got on the plane, but Brian shortly remedied that by comforting me.

It was a long, tiring flight to New York, but we finally made it. Brian and I got off at a different exit then the normal one so we could avoid fans. When we made it inside, we were met by bodyguards, managers, record label executives, and the other four guys. "Corinne!" Nick shouted, enveloping me in a hug.

"Hey, how are ya doing?!" I asked, hugging him back. I did the same with the rest of the guys, as we exchanged all our hello's. Nick told Brian he desperately missed him, 'cause he needed somebody to play Nintindo with.

"Nick, I've been gone for like, 2 days!!" Brian exclaimed. "I know, but still!!" Nick answered back. I laughed at the two as they talked. We all walked out into a heavily secured area so that the screaming fans couldn't mob the guys. We quickly jumped onto the tour bus, and it took off for the guys' next stop.

"Is it always like this?" I asked Brian once we were on the road.

"Yeah, pretty much!" he answered. "But it's ok. All of us have grown used to it, and we love all our fans, so it's perfectly fine by us if they just want to come see us back. It's actually kind of flattering!" he exclaimed, looking out the window as we passed the hundreds of people that showed up. He looked over to me and smiled. "Come on, I'll show you around our bus!"

Brian must have given me the full tour, from the kitchenette to the bunks. Their bus was beautiful, and extremely large! Nick was of course in the back of the bus, playing video games at an amazing entertainment center. I watched AJ cackle as Nick died in one round. "The king goes down! Down I say!" he exclaimed. Brian laughed and led me to the front of the bus. He briefly introduced me to their driver, and then led me back out.

"And this is our bathroom which is the size of a toaster oven, so I suggest if you need to use the facilities, that you wait 'till we stop," Brian rambled on as he pushed the bathroom door open. "Close it!" their manager yelled as Brian slammed the door. "Whoops!" he exclaimed. "Yo, sorry there G... I didn't mean it!" he turned to me as I laughed, "Quick let's get outta here before something else happens!" he whispered taking me by the hand.

I laughed as we sat down at the small table set up in the kitchenette. "This is the life of a Backstreet Boy," Brian announced. "Learn to love the hellacious pattern of it all!" He laughed and smiled at me. He looked me in the eyes and said, "I'm so happy you came." He leaned in to kiss me, but was cut off as their manager came walking in the room.

"Uh, hey man, you see... the whole bathroom thing was just uh..." Brian started before he was cut off.

"Save it Littrell! Listen, get yourself ready, in about an hour we have sound check and rehearsals for your performance on that radio show... what was it called? Oh, it doesn't matter. Just don't be late!" he informed. Brian just smiled and nodded as their manager left the room.

"You just got back, and you already have to start working?" I asked. Brian sighed.

"Yep. That's life!" he said. "Listen, I'm going to tell you right now, this whole summer is going to be hectic. There's going to be appearances, sound checks, interviews, radio shows, meet and greets, promotionals, and tour date, after tour date, after tour date!" he said in one breath. "So, our time together is going to be short and few between.... especially any time for us to be alone." He looked at me with puppy-dog eyes. "I just want to make sure you understand what's going on, and that there's going to be a LOT of 4am wake up calls." He smiled as I threw myself backwards.

"Oh NO! Not 4am! Anything but that!" I exclaimed. I looked back up at him and smiled. "I understand Bri... I'll try and manage!" He slightly laughed, making the corners of his eyes crinkle up. I smiled and put my forehead against his. "I'll do anything for you," I whispered. Brian shut his eyes and sighed out, relieved.

"Even tumble into a pit of prepubescent Nick fans and fight them off with your bare hands?!" he asked. I cracked up laughing as I tried an answer.

"Yes... even fight off teenyboppers with my own two hands!" I announced. Brian laughed and rested his head next to mine again.

"And I will always do the same for you," he said. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck; and that's how we sat until his manager came and dragged him away.
