Fame a Piece of Cake NASHVILLE -- The Wilkinsons have a mantel full of awards, but what dad Steve Wilkinson must be most proud of is the way his teens conduct themselves. Dealing with fame as an adult has proven devastating to some, but when it comes to teens and fame, it's even more difficult. That's why it's so impressive that teen members of the family trio The Wilkinsons -- Tyler, 16, and Amanda, 18 -- are such nice, polite and easy-going, young adults. Tyler has found himself caught in the rumour mill of romance, but he's not influenced. While talking with these Canadians, Tyler easily shrugs off any suggestions he's a teen heart-throb. His father has the proof that his son isn't about to start thinking like a sex symbol. "About a year and a half ago, we were sitting in an autograph line and a girl told Tyler, 'If you get bored later, call me.' After she was out of ear-shot, Tyler turned to me and said, "If I get bored, I have PlayStation,' " laughs Steve. With the trio's great success, Tyler has treated himself to Sega's Dreamcast. "Yeah, he plays it 24/7," teases Amanda. But this addiction of video games isn't frowned upon by his father. "I tell parents to go ahead and buy Dreamcast because if your child gets hooked on it, you can say, 'Keep up your homework or I take away Dreamcast.' It's a wonderful tool," explains Steve. Amanda's luxury treat was to buy herself a Volkswagen Beetle. "It's black and it's great," she proudly says. Tyler, who was planning on getting his learner's permit as soon as he could, doesn't agree: "It's so embarrassing, I have to duck when I'm in it." Amanda pretends to be upset for a moment before the subject is changed. The Wilkinsons hope to tour in November and if all goes as planned, their opening act will be another Canadian teen -- Amanda Stott.
