Welcome to this informal monthly gathering of writers, visual artists, performers, composers and other artists with a variety of disabilities. Please share your interests and talents, support one another's work, and advocate for increased opportunities for all. (Fragrance-free, please.)

    BRIEF AGENDA:

    * 2005 Arts Workshops. James Livingston volunteered to present our first workshop:
    Poetry: From Healing to Art from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 12 at Walker Church, 31st St. and 16th Ave. S. Preregister by Feb. 1 at:  James_Livinn_Less_Laps@Hotmail.com or #13 1216 Powderhorn Terrace, MPLS, MN 55407. $2 fee. Limited to 5-12 persons.

    NEWS, RESOURCES, NETWORKING:
    * Tara Innmon, Maggie Bergeron and Linda Shapiro will speak at a forum on "The Human Continuum of Dance – It Takes All Abilities," Friday, January 21, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hennepin Center for the Arts, Studio 5A, 528 Hennepin Av., Minneapolis.
    * Six artists with disabilities received $1,000 Artist Recognition Grants from VSA arts of Minnesota this month. Funded by the Jerome Foundation, grants went to four visual artists:
    Mark Davison, Mpls., Sculpture; Serik Kulmeshkenov, Mpls., Cartoons, Photography, Drawing; Roald Molberg, Duluth, Stoneware; Eric Skoglund, Mpls., Relief Prints; a poet, Naomi Cohn, St. Paul; and a performer, Stephen Goldstein, Mpls., Sound Design.
    * Disabled and Proud airs every Tuesday at 7:00 pm on KFAI 90.3 fm in Minneapolis, or 106.7 fm in Saint Paul. To hear the current or previous show online at www.kfai.org, if you have a real audio player click on the program archives link, and then on Disabled and Proud.

    February 22 -- Artist of the month Stephanie Dawn will play and discuss her songs and goals.
    March 29 -- Artist of the month Alec Sweazy will talk about his beginnings as a performer.
