Hebrew Surf Lingo

If you plan on going surfing in Israel, you might as well know some of the hebrew surf related words. Here is a short list:

"Gal" - Wave

"Galim" - Waves

"Galshan" - Surfboard

"Glisha" - Surfing

"Tzinor" - Tube

"Shover Galim" - Jettie

"Sheava" - Wax

"Herev" - Fin

"Kir" - Wall

"Jora"- A bad "washing machine" wipeout. It also comes to show that the wave is a closeout. Jora means "Septic Tank".

"Gavoa" - High. Meaning the waves are big.

"Namuch" - Low. Meaning the waves are small.

When one wants to say how glassy the water is, say that it's "shemen" (which means oil)
