I was surprised at the quality of this recording...much better than I thought a MD source could be. |

CDR burned from an audience DAT master.
Don't let the rating fool you, it is a good audience DAT, just not exceptional. It's a nice show and since it's nearly impossible to find digital NMH recordings, it's a must-have for fans. |

PF-ROIO says:
Excellent performance, from every point of view. The sound quality has been improved respect to the vinyl release. Interesting document of a period in which improvisation played a great role. Highly recommended. -PELLE There are many CDs of this show with different titles, check PF-ROIO by date. |

Please look over:
both are better, containing the complete show with slightly longer tracks to account for crowd. Meddler is the superior of the two. Meddler is now on its way, thanks! Also, the title One Of These Days is identical to this Echoes. Also, there is another Echoes which is different from this one. About the date confusion (from PF-ROIO): This specific concert was played on September 30, 1971, but was broadcasted on John Peel's "In Concert" program on October 12, 1971. According to the booklet this was an entire performance in front of a live audience, which you can hear between every track (in Floyd's or Meddler, not this copy! - CDRs). The first three songs (this whole CD - CDRs) were taken from the master source...<snip>. There are many CDs of this show with different titles, check PF-ROIO by date. |

Stingchronicity Info |
one of a few boots of this show, this one seems to be the only one to include the whole set list.
Stingchronicity says: This concert was played at the end of July, 1988, while Sting was again crossing the United States for the second part of the tour, performing only in huge stadiums or at special summer festivals. 3000 people (all invited guests, no tickets were sold) saw a three hour show of Sting; it was a unique event, as his concerts were always lasting much less, ending with an acoustic version of "Message In A Bottle". He performed all the songs he did during the other dates of the tour. It was the longest show he ever did in his entire career. During the whole tour the set list was changed most of the night; in Europe different tracks were played in any country, also because Sting liked to sing a song in the language of the country he was performing that night. That night in California he played all those tunes, the complete program he had prepared for the new tour, including tracks in Spanish, French and German. Even some members of the band had the chance to perform some songs of their own: Dolette McDonald, Delmar Brown, Kenny Kirkland and Branford Marsalis provided some very high quality moments. What you're approaching is the complete recording, in full stereo, of that magical event, a "must" for any Sting fan. |

note that there is a flaw on one track of disc 1 (less than half a second of quiet) note that the length of disc 2 requires me to exchange a track from disc 1 for disc 2 when burning rating this one is hard...some tracks are fantastic, some are not quite as good |

Old Grey Cat |
Classic vintage acoustic performance.
Jeffrey G for Old Grey Cat: What is here, however, is pure genius. Presenting himself in the singer-songwriter mode then in vogue, Neil shapes a delicate and incisive set for an appreciative--and quiet--audience. --and-- The sound quality is stellar throughout, with a minimum of hiss and audience noise. Even the most novice fan would/should enjoy it. (A) |

I use my own rating system on the items in my collection. While you may end up disagreeing with my ranking, please understand that I do take quite a bit of time in creating them. Each disc is evaluated to give three ratings: sound quality, performance, and the all-important overall rating. In a future version of the track listings, I might create ratings for each song and list them.
Remember, the performance component is very subjective...I'm biased towards songs I like for example.
Anyway, when you are viewing the discs, the ratings are in this format:
overall: sound quality / performance
For example, Guitars Kissing has the rating of:
1 (1 / 1)
while Western Electric has a rating of:
5.5 (6 / 5)
due to the so-so soundboard and average playing. Below, there are two charts which try to explain how I assign these numbers.
Sound Quality
1 | Exceptional studio w/ post-production work or amzing soundboard |
2 | Exceptional studio or exceptional soundboard |
3 |
Good soundboard or studio, exceptional audience w/ post-production work
|
4 |
Exceptional audience, above average soundboard or studio
|
5 |
Good audience, average soundboard or studio
|
6 | Above average audience, below average soundboard or studio |
7 | Average audience, poor soundboard or studio |
8 | Below average audience |
9 | Poor audience |
10 | Collector or completist only |
Performance
1 | Perfect performance |
2 | Exceptional |
3 |

4 |

5 |

6 |

7 | Boos and hisses |
