Upon application of William Osburn for letters of administration on the estate
of Francis Groom  dec'd
  This affiant saith that as far as he knows or believes, Frances Groom died
leaving no children, but that his mother Sarah Groom, lives in Kentucky and
the following brothers and sisters living in the same state viz - Richard
Grooms, Joseph Grooms, and one sister died in said state named Mary Darnell
who left children, but whose names are unknown to this affiant - and that said
deceased left the following  brothers and sisters in the state of missouri
-viz- William Groom, who is dead leaving several heirs (whose names are unknow
to this affiant) Hanna Chaney - and Sarah Osburn, this affiants wife

In vacation December 20th 1824
Be it remembered that on this twentieth day of December in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four William Osburn made
application at the office of the clerk of the county court of the county of
Clay for letters of administration on the estate of Francis Groom deceased
which upon the said William Osburn entering into bond with Thornton Strother
Eppe Tillery his securities in the penalty of two hundred dollars conditioned
as the and taking the oats required by law are granted him in which said
letters of administration are in the following words and figures viz
State of  Missouri   }
County of Clay          }
    William L Smith clerk of the county court within and for the county
aforesaid. To all who shall see these presents greetings Know ye that whereas
Francis Groom having died intestate as is suggested and William Osburn having
given satisfactory security and complied with the requsitions of the law I do
by these presents give and grant to the aforesaid William Osborn full power
and authority to administer all and singular the goods and chattles rights and
credits of the said deceased lying and being in the state aforesaid, and to
ask, demand and legally require and manner of debts due and owing to the said
deceased and will and faithfully to dispose of the same according to law;  and
lastly I do by these presents constitute and appoint the said William Osburn
administrator of all and singular the goods chattles rights and credits of
said deceased.
   The foregoing letters to remain in full force until revoked by the County
Court.  Witness my hand and private seal there being no official one yet
provided at Liberty the twentieth day of December in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and twenty four and in the forty ninth year of the
independence of the Untied States

The administration of the Estate of Francis Groom was confirmed to William
Osborn who obtained letters therefore in vacation and the bond taken by the
clerk was approved.   15 Feb 1825

appeared in  open court and presented an account of his administration for
settlement as follows: DR To amt remaining on last settlement $427.24

1826

Abraham Groom Plaintiff}
vs William Osburn Adm & CoDefendant}
     Ths day came the parties and neither party requiring a jury to try the
issue herein submit the same to the court.  Whereupon all and singular the
matters and tings being seen and heard by the court and by the court here
fully understood.  It is considered by the court that said plaintiff ought to
recover against said defendant administration and co. the debt in his petition
mentioned.  Therefore it is considered by the court that the plaintiff
aforesaid recover against said defendant as administrator for aforesaid the
sum of seventeen dollars the debt in his petition mentioned as well as his
costs by him about the prosecution of this sit in this behalf laid out and
expended and it is further ordered that that said administrator pay the said
debt and costs upon the production to him of a copy of this Judgement
otherwise an execution will issue to be levied of his own proper goods and
chattles  bonds and tenements.  
Sarah Groom Plaintiff                }
vs William Osburn adms & co Defendant}
  This day came as well the said plaintiff as the said defendant administrator
of the estate of Francis Groom dec'd and neither party requiring a jury to try
the issue herein submit the same to the court.  Wereupon all and singular the
matters and things being seen and heard by the court and by the court here
fully understood.  It is considered by the court that said plaintiff ought to
recover the debt in her petition mentioned.  Therefore it is considered that
the plaintiff aforesaid recover against said defendant as administrator
aforesaid as well the sum of eighteen dollars the debt in the petition
mentioned as also her costs by her in the prosecution of her suit in this
behalf laid out and expended. And it is frther considered that said
administrator pay the said debt and costs upon a copy of this judement being
produced to him otherwise an execution will issue to be levied

This day came as well the said plaintiff as the said defendant administrator
of the estate of Francis Groom dec'd and neither party requiring a jury to try
the issue herein submit the same to the court.  Whereupon all and singular the
matters and things being seen and heard  by the court.  Same as above two
dollars.
