(Warning: here you can find the instruction to used Azzurra, the Italian Net of Chat-Line, but changing the right items you can use for other Nets)
What you need:
To set mIRC:
install and run it, then:
Click on Menù, File, Setup:
in serverIRC, click on ADD and write in
Description: Azzurra (the Italian one)
IRC server: irc.azzurra.com
Port(s): 6667 or 6668 or 6669 or 7000
Click on ADD
In Full Name and in e-mail address write a false name and a false address
In Nickname write your pseudonym (use fantasy)
In Alternative write and alternative pseudonym in case the first is just in use.
Once connected, a "Channel Folder" window appear: write #xfilesitalia and then click on Join.
Now you're in the channel. If you want to find a lot of people, go in this channel between 9:30 pm and 1:00 am (Greenwich time), but if you want to find me, go there between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm (Greenwich time)!
And if you want your chatting saved in a file, click on Menu File, Options, Logging e select all. Then you will find a file .LOG where it is written in "location of logs".
If you want to see more channel, in the Status windows write /list.
You need a client, like Outlook.
The Italian NewsGroup on X-Files is:
To set Outlook:
Menu Instruments, Account, Add, News
Write a nickname (use fantasy) [forward]
Server News Name: you have to ask to your server provider. It would be something like "nameserver.news.state" [forward]
Name the account. [forward]
Set the other two looking at your Internet connection.
Exit from the Account window, connect with the Net and click with the mouse right key on the new voice in the directory and chose "newsgroup". You'll find a list of newsgroups, that you could subscribe.
Attention, do not forget "it.fan.x-files"
Before start writing on Chat and NewsGroup, it's better read the Netiquette, aka a list of things to do or not to do to live peaceful on th Net.
This Netiquette is the rule of "it.fan.x-files", but you can find a general idea how to be a civil person on the Net.
