Colleen Marie

So cute and sweet your knees grow weak;
But this little gal has an ornery streak.

She might be little but seldom mild;
She's a little gentle, a little wild.

She loves a dog and loves a kitty;
In a little dress, she's so pretty.

She plays with the boys and holds her own.
But with her dolls, she makes a home.

A second child in a family with two;
Her older sister sticks like glue.

She loves her Pa Pa, with a smile she wins
His rough, old heart through thick and thin.

Her Grandma loves the little gal;
They read and play, to each a pal.

To Mom and Dad she's quite a joy,
And here they thought they wanted a boy.

So, Colleen Marie, you're loved by us all,
Through winter and spring, through summer and fall.

Colleen Marie is my granddaughter-born March 4, 1990. Colleen turned 14 years of age this spring. She is now a teenager. As a little girl, she brought joy to many. The last time I saw her, I realized that the little girl with her joyful, impish face is no more. The face of a young woman filled with joy, anxiously awaiting a new era....a new world has taken her place.
