January Blessing
Once I wrote a poem about January,
And it is so very true;
The weather is cold and nasty,
And everyone has the flu.
The nights are still so long,
Holidays are in the past;
The best thing about January,
Is knowing it won't last.
Those who have no hobbies,
Of crafting or using thread;
Must hate being indoors,
And this weather really dread.
But there is a light in this month,
He was born on Christmas Day;
He stays with us in the cold,
And warms our hearts His way.
I'll be glad to see it go,
And spring to closer grow;
But while I wait for the flowers,
My Jesus I can get to know.
We can have coffee and chat,
I can read His wonderful book;
There isn't a better companion,
No matter where I look.
January is a blessing,
Even when it's hard to see;
It's a time to pull away from the world,
And spend time with God, you see.
