Love's Patience

The miles may separate us,
And keep our bodies apart;
But you are always in my mind,
And, in your pocket, you carry my heart.

I often feel your weariness,
At the end of the day;
So, in my mind I hold you,
And send my love your way.

And I hope you draw upon it,
Through the long and lonely night;
For I am there by your side,
To make all things right.

Through your busy, busy day,
I smile and shake my head;
Wishing you were with me,
Making love instead.

But our time will come,
In your arms I will lie;
And after our love is spent,
I will smile and I will sigh.

For, at times like these,
The wait is oh so long;
But in your arms again,
I know my patience isn't wrong.
