My son, Joe, had a wonderful Kindergarten teacher. Not only was Betsy patient and understanding with him, but she also genuinely cared. She wanted Joe to be the best he could be. Betsy spotted quickly that something was not quite right with Joe. She made the arrangements to have him tested and kept me appraised of my rights as far as Joe went. We discovered that my son was developmentally delayed which caused some learning disabilities. Thanks to Betsy, these problems were caught very early which helped us to learn how to teach my son. Joe is doing good in school although this year has been rough. I feel we owe Betsy a huge debt.

A Glorious Start

Patient and kind and all that's good,
Listening and teaching as a teacher should;
For a "special" child there's a place in her heart,
She wants to give him a glorious start.

A late arrival in the life of his parents,
A slow starter he'd be was soon apparent;
But Betsy has joyfully worked to sow,
The seeds of knowledge to help him grow.

He'll catch up someday I know that's true,
And right now he needs a love of school;
Betsy has shown him school is fun,
With love and knowledge, most battles he's won.

When he's grown to be a fine young man,
He'll look back on life and there will stand;
The teacher who gave him a glorious start,
Who helped him take knowledge to heart.

He'll be thankful you have really been there,
For he might have been caught in a horrible snare;
That kept him from learning of life and love,
And the wondrous works of the Master above.

Close to God a place is waiting just for you,
When, after this life, you receive your due;
And children will sit before your feet,
With wings of angels and voices so sweet.
