Barathy, Director of the the movie "MARUMALARCHI" originally approached Vijayakanth to perform in it, but due to call-sheet problems Vijayakanth declined the offer. Therefor Barathy elected to go with Mammutty.

Though the movie started pretty slowly it picked up eventually and became a big hit. Vijayakanth who saw the movie praised Barathy and gave him a pleasant surprise by asking to prepare a story for him.

It is expected that Vijayakanth will join hands with Barathi after the movie "DHARMA", In which Vijayakanth is working right now.
