Magick is the best on-line imaging site on
the web. It rates right up there, with
spendy computer software, such as adobe or
paint shop pro. It's features are too
numerous to review, so I will concentrate on
two; chopping and decorating. Chopping is
overlooked in many tutorials i've seen, but
it can be a valuable tool. As my chopping
example below, I used the WebTv Gif Sites
logo. Whenever you us an image such as this,
make sure you get e-mail permission from the
owner, as the image may be copyrighted.
Special thanks to the ringmistress and the

Chop
Cropping is best
used for
minimizing the background of an image, in
order to make the main image more of a focal
point, such as a face in a photo. Chopping,
is best used for isolating the main image,
within an image, which is unemcumbered by
background, by removing part of the top,
bottom or sides.
Below is the perfect
example.
Follow me, step by step,
and
then
click on the image magick button above or
below and
try it with your own image.
Now, all
I
want
from this image is the city skyline, and i
want it bigger. So I took the first image
below to image magick and double-sized
it...then I went to
the top of the page, and clicked on
"transform"...clicked on
"chop"...
...now for
parameter, they are asking for how much I
want to chop off (width x height) in
pixels..so I looked at the status bar below
and saw my image was currently "324 x
300"..now my width was fine so I estimated I
needed to take off about 100 pixels for the
height, to get rid of the text on the top, so
I put 0x100 in the parameter box and pressed
transform....
now, since the chop
feature,
chops from top to bottom, I had to make the
bottom the top to continue....go back up to
"transform" (click on)....click on
"flip"..press transform....
Now the
image is
upside down, so I can again put 0x100 in the
parameter box, click on crop, press transform
and I have an upside down city skyline. Now I
can go back up to transform and "flip" it
rightside up....next, I click on
"output"...when that page comes up, I choose
the "gif" format, and the storage type would
be "multiple images," because the image was
animated. On the next page, I clicked on the
top image,
and now the
image is finished and is ready to be
transloaded to my site....except....
I want to make
the background transparent. I take the
image, with the image magick temporary URL to
TransWeb(click here)...I
select "transparent this background"..and on
the next page, I put in the image magick
URL.I can now point and click on the black
background to get rid of it...I can now
transload or upload to my site.
Decorate
Turn
your pretty pictures into Fine
Art
I
took this
pic to image magick, viewed my url...went up
to "enhance"...clicked on "spiff," to sharpen
and slightly gloss the pic....then I clicked
on "decorate," then did a 5x5! "raise"...went
back to decorate, and did a 3x3! gray
border..clicked on decorate again, and did a
4x4! steelblue frame...output "jpg" single
file and then transload....You can have alot
of fun expeimenting with the decorating
features.
