History Of Bridal Cave

Centuries ago the local Osage Indians discovered the cave beneath Thunder Mountain. Theres been a local folklore of an indian wedding ceremony back in the early 1800s. The cave was well known by the local settlers and after decades of primitive exploration, the cave was officially protected in 1948. There has been ongoing explorations of the cave for decades to come and discovery of the Mystery Lake. Today visitors can see the cave from the entrance to the underground lake.

Tours

Park interpreters guide you on a concrete pathway through the cave to the mystery lake and back. The whole tour takes sixty minutes and tours leave every couple of minutes. You will find throughout the cave giant columns, delicate soda straws, and massive draperies. To me it is worth the tour, you have so much to see and the guides are very informative and will answer any of your questions. They can also perform weddings and have done over 1900 couples thus far.
