A Little History on Devils Elbow Missouri

The town of Devils Elbow is located just north of St.Robert in Pulaski County. Today it is considered a historic stop along Route 66 for it has changed very little since the highway was built. The town consists of a general store called Sheldon's Market (previously Allmans Market) that doubles into the local postoffice, the Elbow Inn Bar and Grill which originally opened in 1929, and of course the old stell truss bridge that crosses the river. The Elbow Inn Bar at one time used to known as Munger Moss Sandwich Shop till the 1940s when it moved to Lebanon Missouri. This building is one of the oldest structures along Route 66 known to still serve its origional function.

The old Route 66 bridge that was built in 1923.
