Raven

RaVeN

This page is totally dedicated to the enigmatic wrestler known to most as Raven. I will include a small bit of history, stats, and his famous quotes. Raven is known for his endurance when it comes to pain. He is also know for his intellegent speeches. His greatest opponent is probably Tommy Dreamer, although I prefer his war with Saturn. The wrestler known as "Raven" got his start in ECW, Scott Levy actually starting wrestling long before that.

**Raven Update**

August 21, 2003

Last night Raven was all over the TNA pay per view. I started out watching it online at 7:00 but soon realized I had to buy it and get it on tape. The show opened with Raven beating the crap out of Shane Douglas... He grabs the mic and challenges the mystery man to a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match...the lights conveniently go out and we listen to Don West frantically scream about what we CAN'T see happening. The lights come on to reveal Raven hanging from the noose...okay I want to know how they pulled this off...Raven's feet were NOT touching the ground. Alexis was the first one to get to him but she couldn't very well pick his dead ass up! Julio assists and Punk cuts the noose to get Raven free...This was the most awesome/scary sight ever!
Now we need to skip to the next Raven appearance...the Lucky 13 Gauntlet Match...Raven beats Shane Douglas--a clean win to become the #1 contender for the title that the little snot AJ Styles currently has!

Now for Raven's famous quotes:

"The entire purpose of human existence, is to kindle a light in the darkness of being. We are a nation of hollow stuffed people; bleeding together; heads stuffed with straw. Like wind in an empty street, or rats feet over broken glass in a dark and forgotten cellar. So it is written. So it shall come to pass. Quote the Raven, nevermore."

"Trust and hate, and love and fate, and I don't understand. Social grace, the human race, confuse me. These words I speak, bring forth a world of emotions. Emotions of dreams lost, dreams found, and dreams I'll never see. So it is written. So it shall come to pass. But the questions is, will I, or will I not be Diamond Dallas Page's partner? But Isn't that the same question, that I've been asked time and time again, since my childhood? Isn't the question really, is there any dreams, I'd like to sell? Quote the Raven, nevermore."

"I can't remember a time when I wasn't alone, even when my parent were around. The sound of their fury was harsh, but the sound of their silence was deafening. It's devastation that left me buried beneath a mountain of solitude. My loneliness and despair trapped me in a storm of unimaginable emptiness. What about me? What about Raven? The other kids playing ball outside, and me with them was am illusion I'd allow myself, but the stark reality was even if my parents would of allowed me to leave my bedroom dwell, the other kids wouldn't of allowed me to join in anyway. They said I didn't follow their rules. Their stupid rules... Quote the Raven, nevermore."

"We all need... a haven. A sanctuary. A place to hide. A place to escape. A place to dream and hope. A place... where the darkness won't be so frightening. So it is written. So it shall come to pass. But for some, the darkness is a relentless enemy. It cannot be eluded. And once the darkness senses your fear; once it senses your pain, it is never far behind. I can empathize with these people. I can understand their futility. I can forgive their hopelessness. I feel their pain. Quote the Raven, nevermore."

"Throughout the trials and tribulations and the heartbreak and the misery that is my life, there is only one man who's advice I've ever headed. And he told me there are two rules. One there are no rules and two is someone must feel the DDT. Quote the Raven Nevermore."

"Anguish, fear, and sorrow, are emotions we all feel, but never more strongly than in our adolescence. When just having an acne-rabid skin, can mean a lifetime of loneliness. One's acceptance by others is a barometer of one's popularity. If one is different, a misfit, maybe unattractive, un-athletic, one is in for a lifetime of cruelty and suffering, that will traumatize permanently. You see scars are souvenirs you never loose. The past is never far. You can try to repress it. You can try to hold it back. You can try to deny it. But it will still continue to grow... stronger, and stronger. Like a malignant cancer, that can't be satiated. Each of us manifests our pain in different manners. Whether it's three in the morning in bed... tears in one's eye. Whether it's a need to destroy everything beautiful, or just simply shutting one's self off from society. My father never gave me what I needed, so I understand what it's like to do without. They should understand this. They should give what's needed. I can see this. I can feel their pain. Why can't they understand? Quote the Raven, nevermore."

"All the joy, all the fun, all the excitement, took place here. This is what every kid looked forward to: recess. Every kid could not wait to get here. Couldn't wait to get out here and get beaten up by the bullies. Couldn't wait to get out here and get teased and humiliated. Couldn't wait to get out here so they could be chosen last, for all the teams. This is where all the fun of childhood took place. The only thing I remember rivaling that, was one time, during my parents attempted reconciliation, they took me skiing. And as I stood atop the mountain, and looked across at another snow-covered hill, I saw my reflection. And then a land slide brought it down. You see, scars are souvenirs you never loose, the past is never far. But what do you do? What do you do, when all your memories are razor blades? When everything you can possibly remember, hurts? What do you do? Quote the Raven, nevermore."

[rips contract] Quote the Raven, nevermore."

"Gene... Rules and responsibilities. These are the ties that bind us. If we did otherwise, we would not be ourselves. I will do what I have to, and I will do what I must. The only announcement is, that there is no announcement... quote the Raven, nevermore."

We all commit certain acts in our lives, of an unsavory nature. Some bad. Some worse. Some unspeakable. Sometimes we suffer in silence, sometimes we seek redemption. He's got what he wanted, but in attaining salvation, there is a price that must be paid. One must... give up a bit of one's self. The road; or the end of the road as it is, might not be quite as... not quite what you expect. The glowing light at the end of the tunnel may not be the beacon of righteousness that you envisioned. It may be some horribly disfigured fun house reflection of your own inner dreams. Quote the raven, nevermore.

And now here are some quotes Scott Levy has made about his wrestling personas:

"I really didn't like being that 'high-flying' character. That was something that was forced upon me by promoters because that's what THEY wanted. There is an aspect of me when I am not being moody that is jovial, but those moments are few and far between. It wasn't something that I wanted to do. I wanted to explore my darker half, and I just had to find that opening, but I had to pay the bills prior to that. I just want to be myself. I won't be a corporate whore," said Raven in 1997.

"I NEVER wanted to be that (Johnny Polo). That was something they gave me. At the time, I was stuck with nothin' and I had nothin' so I took what I could get. Then, I realized I don't want to be this, and I am not happy. I wasn't being true to me. I wasn't being real. I thought I was putting on a sham or an act. I didn't want to be perpetrating a hoax. Being Johnny Polo was a childhood mistake. I was a lost soul looking for answers. So, I up and quit. I called Vince one day, and that was it. They actually gave me an office job at that point. They made me an associate producer of all their television shows."

"The most insane shot is the one that still plays at the beginning of the ECW show. I was handcuffed crucifix-style to a steel cage and hit with a steel chair so hard that the chair doubled around my head. That, or a match in Baltimore where they put up barbed wire all around the ropes. At one point, a piece of the wire came off and I was on all fours being whipped across the back with the wire by Sandman."

"Creating Raven was solely my idea. It comes from a very tormented past and tortured childhood. Paul E. gave me a forum to express my views, and now WCW is giving me an even wider forum."

"Listen to my words much more deeply. Don't just take them in surface value. Use your brain. Think, learn, and listen. There's much more to what I am saying than what's there on the surface."
