Day Wear:

The lovely pictures that follow are taken from British Vogue Magazines from 1960-61. There were so many lovely pictures to choose from so I had to narrow it down to just a few. I hope you like my choice of clothes. I have added the original fashion report title where possible

Chic or Pretty-Can you be both?

the sweater.jpgsatnin_sheath.jpg

The sweater, seen as a glamour girl would wear it: toping slender Lurex pants, sparked off with rhinestones -earrings, a feather pin, a wristful of bracelets. With all this slinky glitter, pretty pink lipstick and a gentle hairdo provide a softening influence.
White satin sheath with a pretty glow about it. The way to play it is sophisticated; hair swept up into a high satin pill box; brown satin shoes; lavish helpings of pearls and mixed brown beads.

Grey flannel dress, clean cut and pretty. Its chic lies in simplicity; it's worn with plain accessories., no jewels, a casual shoulder-length bob.
Wrap around coats were a strong Paris story. Here, a reversible version in grey wool edged with braiding. Slick city touches: patent shoes, a pillbox hat; country plans would involve a scarf and pigskin accessories.
Young suit ingredients: cherry red tweed (very flattering this), brass buttons, stiffened choir boy collar and cuffs. Added polish: black patent accessories, short white gloves…
