Organs

The organ, and especially the pipe organ, has become known to represent either good (God/heaven/religon through its use in churches) or evil (thanks largely to the tortured character in "Phantom of the Opera") in literature and popular entertainment. These movies include them in their plot, with the main character or at least in an important scene.

Movies

"20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" ('54)
Captain Nemo has one in the Nautilis. (BTW- Nemo's organ was a done-over Robt. Morton console with sculpted plaster pipes. The sound came from United Artist's sound stage WurliTzer. James Mason actually played.)
"Abominable Dr. Phibes, The" ('71), and "Dr Phibes Rises Again" ('72)
Two classic Vincent Price horror films from the early 70's, Price as Phibes was not only a mad physician but an organist. He had a translucent theatre organ on a two-floor lift in his lair.

Scene from this movie This adaptation evokes the inner rapture and torment of Elias Johannes Alder, a 19th-century German born with musical genius, supernatural powers of hearing and two mutually exclusive loves. From birth, Elias can hear the rhythms and sounds of everything.
"Carnival of Souls" ('62)
The cult classic. Mary Henry (Candace Hilligoss) is enjoying the day by riding around in a car with two friends. When challenged to a drag, the women accept, but are forced off of a bridge. It appears that all are drowned, until Mary, quite some time later, amazingly emerges from the river. After recovering, Mary accepts a job in a new town as a church organist, only to be dogged by a mysterious phantom figure that seems to reside in an old run-down pavilion. It is here that Mary must confront the personal demons of her spiritual insouciance.
"Casper" ('95)
An organ is played in the haunted mansion.
"Dead Poets Society" ('89)
There are a couple of chapel scenes in wherein the organ console can be seen (looks like one of the streamlined Holtkamp or Schlicker designs, or a knockoff of same), and someone sitting at it.
"Eagle Has Landed, The" ('77)
The German playing the pipe organ in the church in the final fight scene.
"Front Page, The" ('74)
Jack Lemmon's fiancee plays a theatre organ at the silent movie theatre.
"Ghost and Mister Chicken, The" ('66):
Don Knotts plays a newspaper reporter who spends a night in a haunted house in an attempt to solve a murder mystery involving a pipe organ as a major component of the mystery. Double manual in a loft, with the pipes visable below, behind the spiral staircase.
"Giant" ('56)
House interior with 2 manual Wurlitzer. During a scene one of the actors walks past it and plays a note. Sounded real.

The guys shoot up a pipe organ in the flooded church.
"Help" ('65)

"Man Who Played God, The" ('32)
Montgomery Royale (George Arliss) donates a pipe organ to a needy church.
"Mysterious Island" ('61)
Starring Herbert Lom as Capt. Nemo on a disabled Nautilus in a grotto and the organ still plays. Unusual drawstops arranged horizontal barrel-like on the key jambs. Awful facade.
"Phantom of the Opera" ('25,'43,'62,'89)
Probably THE classic organ movie scene, with Bach's Toccata and Fuge in Dmin. The Phantoms: '25-Lon Chaney, '43-Claude Rains, '62-Herbert Lom ,'89-Robert Englund
"R.S.V.P" ('92)
The girl plays an organ at the wedding near the end.

With music. A totally unenclosed installation in a very large building. Impressive!

At the very end of the movie is a wedding scene in a contemporary church which has several clear shots of a pipe organ.
"Sunset Blvd" ('50)
?
"Swingtime Johnny" ('43)

The episode where one of the cast plays the piano butt naked.
"Munsters, The"
The pump organ in the living room. Grandpa plays it is some episodes.

-The episode when the organist was playing "Inna Godda Davida" disguised as a hymn by Bart, which he named "In the Garden of Eden" .
-The episode, when Montgomery Burns was about to marry Mrs. Bouvier, Marge's mother, the entire organ was behind a plate glass in the balcony.
-The episode in which Marge becomes a church counselor, there's a midi keyboard in her office in the base the organ.
-The episode where Lisa dreams she is going to marry awealthy Englishman. When principal Skinner gets an invitation he says to Mrs. Krebopple, "I've been invited to the wedding of the only graduate able to read at an adult level". Krebopple says it must be Lisa Simpson because the only other student, Martin Prince, died in a tragic science fair accident. Then the scene pans to a room far below the school where Martin is at a pipe organ ala the "Phantom of the Opera".

Commercials

Cartoons

"Jazz Fool, The" ('29)
Horace pulls a wagon with a a small pipe organ, with Mickey at the keys.
"Silly Symphonies"
Disney produced a short in the mid-30s that also featured a wonderful pipe organ battle with a jazz band. The two groups were on neighboring islands The Land of Jazz and the Land of The Orchestra or something equally silly (remember the name!) The heroine (piccolo violin) and hero (alto saxophone) meet, and he saves her from drowning (it looses something in the description, believe me.) The pipe organ lowers its "guns" (totally inspired moment) ala battleship and fires away "The Ride of the Valkeries". It's hilarious! All ends well, of course! Mamma was a harp and Daddy a bass viol, I seem to recall.
"Snow White" ('33anim)
There's a very happy scene with the organ that Grumpy plays.
