Rose woke up to find herself being lifted up into a ship. Rose thought that she would see Jack in the lifeboat, but there was no Jack. Rose shed a tear, but she couldn't give up. Two officers helped Rose out of the lifeboat.
"Can I have your lifebelt please, Miss?" an officer asked. Rose did not hesitate to give up the lifejacket, and she took it off, and handed it to the officer. "Thank you," the officer said.
"Can I give you a warm blanket?" a steward asked. Rose took off her blanket, and they handed her a new one. Rose looked around for Jack. She figured he would be where the third class passengers were, looking for people he might have known on Titanic. She then saw him, his head in his hands, and still had his cuffs on each hand with a blanket in his arms.
Rose rushed over, and yelled, "Jack!"
Jack lifted his head and saw Rose running towards him.
Jack smiled and stood up, having Rose sink into his arms. "Rose! Oh God, I thought you were dead! I checked every list on this Goddamned ship, and they said that no Rose existed. Oh God, I'm so glad to see you," Jack said, kissing Rose.
"I know, I know, I just came on," Rose said, hanging onto Jack tightly. "How did you survive, Jack? For a moment I thought I lost you," Rose asked.
"I climbed onto a turned over boat with some other men and an officer. How'd you?"
"I climbed onto a piece of driftwood. Oh, Jack, I'm so sorry I let go of your hand."
"It's all right, Rose. It's not your fault. It was the suction."
"I still feel guilty, Jack. The suction should have pulled me under also."
"That's because you had a life vest on."
"I hate those things, Jack. They feel like you're carrying a ball connected to a chain on your ankle. Oh, it doesn't matter anymore, Jack. It's all over with, and we're together. That's what counts," Rose said, kissing Jack.
"You're right."
"Did Tommy and Fabrizio make it?" There was a silence in between the two, and Jack shook his head. "Oh Jack, I'm so--"
Rose rubbed her hands against Jack's face.
Jack touched Rose's hands, and Rose laughed. "What?"
"You still have your handcuffs on."
"Well, I was thinking about keeping them for a souvenir, since I did lose my best sketch on that ship."
"Well, Jack, why don't we go and find someone to take them off so you won't have to wear them the REST of your natural born life."
Jack and Rose laughed. After Jack got his cuffs off, they started to walk a ways.
"Rose." Jack stopped, and looked into Rose's eyes. "I love you, and when we were separated I thought we would never see each other again. I have never felt that way about a woman before. Rose, what I'm trying to say is that I don't want to lose you again. Will you marry me?"
Rose smiled happily, and said, "Yes."
They hugged each other for a moment, and then kissed. Jack then spotted someone, someone he didn't like. "Rose." Rose looked at what Jack was pointing to from a distance; it was Cal. "Come on," Jack said, nudging Rose.
Rose followed, holding Jack's hand. Rose took one more look at the man that she almost married, and then walked away. That was the last time she ever wanted to see him again. Jack and Rose decided to stay below decks, since the air was chilly and they both doubted that Cal would look for them there. Rose sipped warm tea as Jack held Rose in his arms. He kissed her head several times, and savored one of their first moments as an engaged couple.
