5 kills
First Kill - 60 minutes (be patient)
Released 2 years after Halloween, the same year as Friday the 13th, and light years before Nightmare on Elm Street, this movie is a classic. I'm sure it was made to cash in on the success of Halloween. It stars Jamie Lee Curtis and throughout the movie, most people think the killer is an escaped mental patient. (Remember that guy named Michael Myers?) But Prom Night has one thing that Halloween doesn't... Leslie Nielsen as the principal.
Our story starts with 5 children playing a sick game in an old abandoned school. It's like Hide-and-Seek, only people die. Well, not intentionally. See, the kids find each other, and then, once it's the whole group looking for the last one, they start to chant in unison, "The killers are coming! The killers are coming!" Well, poor Robin is last, and her sister, Kim, along with the other cruel children, scare her so bad that she continues to back up and falls out of the window and dies. The kids vow never to tell anyone and manage to keep their secret for 6 years.
Now, 6 years later, the kids are seniors in high school. In between some great examples of early-80's cheese (who wears short shorts?), the kids involved in the accident are beginning to get harrassing phone calls and messages. Kim (Jamie Lee Curtis) tries to block it out as she helps prepare for her prom. There's an escaped mental patient on the loose, but the party goes on. It's Prom Night baby! Time for some good disco dancing. Unfortunately, the killer shows up and the party's crashed.
If you're a horror fan, and you haven't seen this, you really need to get your hands on this movie. The decapitation kill is worth at least 5 rewinds! And although it takes an hour for the first kill (we didn't count Robin falling), you'll actually be interested.
