My Interest In Oz

Newsflash! I would like to declare that my "obsession" with Oz is over. However, this certainly won't affect how much I like Oz, because I like it just as much, maybe even more, as I did back when I watched it every week and it was the only thing I thought about. I thought for memory reasons it would be neat to keep the text below. So why not read about how my interest in Oz that I will forever have began?

Over 100 years ago, L. Frank Baum wrote a book that is now the reason for one of the best movies made in history: The Wizard of Oz. This book was one of the many books written by L. Frank Baum in his book series about the land of Oz. He wrote books such as Glinda of Oz, The Scarecrow of Oz, and so on. For years, people tried to capture Baum's wonderful book The Wizard of Ozon film, but did not succeed, not until the late 1930s that is. 1939 was the year that the best family film in film history was created. The Wizard of Oz was a hit! And over 60 years, later, it still is.
It's a rare occassion that a twelve-year-old American girl has not seen The Wizard of Oz. But for me, it was true. I had no interest in Oz whatsoever. I had a children's edition book of The Wizard of Oz when I was young, but I never payed much attention to it. I had never seen the movie and had absolutely no desire to, until, that is, at the end of my 1999-2000 school year, we found out we'd be doing the play, The Wizard of Oz. A few other kids hadn't seen the movie the movie before, either. It made it hard for us to understand what was going on and what parts we should request. So my teacher brought in the movie for us to watch. We only got to see part of it, and I liked it. That Easter, my friend brought it over, and I saw the whole thing. I loved it! So I went out and bought the digitally remastered video. Now, I watch it at least once a week. I have two different soundtracks on CD, and I love all the songs. I also own The Official 50th Anniversary Pictorial History, which is a wonderful book. I also have a collection of Oz items on a shelf in my bedroom, as well as a poster, calendar, and more. Right now, even though it's probably hard to believe, The Wizard of Oz is one of the only things I think about!
If you've never cared to see this movie before, I reccomend you do, even if you're not a movie fan. You will love the movie. You'll love the songs, the acting the adventures, and the happiness it will bring to your heart. I think that this movie is the greatest ever made. Look at me, I was twelve and had never seen the movie. Now it's my favorite thing in the world. So please, give it a try. Join Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tinman, Cowardly Lion, and the whole gang on their journey to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz!
