DID YOU SAY, YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN GHOSTS?

Ole Charlie's Gold
© 2000 Dorothy M. Manley

Old Charlie died in prison
For a crime he didn't do.
They say he killed his partner,
But you knew it wasn't true.

You were called to testify
At ole Charlie's trial.
As you spun your web of lies,
I could have sworn I saw you smile.

You knew that he was innocent,
But you never told a soul.
Your greedy hands were just waiting
To get hold of Charlie's gold.

Did you hear footsteps last night
Walking down the hall?
Did you look to see who was there,
Just to find no one at all?

If you think ole Charlie rests in peace,
Then you're not very smart.
You say you don't believe in ghosts,
Well now's the time to start.
