Restoration: Inner Fenders

The restoration of the driver's side inner fender took about a day and a half to do. In this first picture, the inner fender actually looks a lot better than it did when I pulled it off of the truck. These first two pictures were taken after I sanded it down, put one coat of 500 degree gloss black paint on it, and then sanded it down again.

In this next picture I'm wetsanding the inner fender. Wetsanding is where you sand with at least 1500 grit sandpaper and water; it smoothes out the paint for that mirror-finish.

Here's the finished product! After I wetsanded it, I buffed out the finish with some 3M Rubbing Compound. The rubbing compund took out all of the swirl marks left from wetsanding and gave a really deep finish. You can't even tell that it was paints with a spray can!

These last two pictures are before and after pictures of when I undercoated it.

Here's a good before and after picture. Boy can you tell a difference!!
