Here is the column for January 25, 2000
Have you ever looked into your cats eyes and felt as though you were communicating in a way unknown to most? I'm not talking about the "Ooo sweet pussy, good kitty, I love you so much!" kind of talk. I'm talking about the "I know exactly who you are and what you want" kind of talk. Some might call it animal ESP (Have you ever watched those Animal X shows on Animal Planet?), I call it Natural. I am not going to tell you I have conversa-tions with my cats, no, what I am going to tell you is that animals have a sense of present just as we humans do. Perhaps this is why we relate to them so, for the fact that we share our lives with them in this world, and that we have a pact with the Lord and Lady to keep things running smoothly...
This column will deal with the nature of animals in our magickal, spiritual and overall daily lives. Perhaps there will be a book review, a in-spirational story, folklore or a animal-related piece of spellwork featured here, who knows what the future will bring? (Unless, of course, you're an expert scryer!) In this, the first issue, I'll just introduce myself... and my pets!
I am a fifteen year old animal loving Wiccan of one year. I "found" Wicca completely unintentionally but fell in love with it's practices instantly. I have always enjoyed reading and writing, immensely, this column will per-haps shape my skills a bit. I say I'm a animal lover? Well, yes. Ever since I can recall I've had a love and respect for all types of animals (I can't really say I love spiders *shiver* but I do respect them!). My favorite animal? Oh, that is hard. I have a fascination with birds, especially the different types of parrot, but, truly, I find all species of creature an amazing addition to this Earth.
I'm sure you want to hear of my animals
since you are reading a column about the
animal kingdom, so here it is! I own (Or
should I say, they own me?) two cats and a
parakeet, which is a small parrot-like bird. My
cats are known as Cocoa and Spunky, though
you wouldn't really think of Spunky as having
one ounce of spunk in him! My bird, Pixie, is a
new addition to the
group and I love him immensely.
Whoever knew
you could love such a little
creature so much?
He's like my child! Right
now as I look at him he
is performing some kind
of birdy acrobatics on a
plant stand, but, oh!
Sensing he's being
watched he dives back into his "house" with a
*tweet*, perhaps he is telepathic! Now that I've
introduced you to my little family, it is time to
say "goodbye". I'll leave you, until next time,
with parakeet hugs and lovebird kisses!
