John Pemberton born (July 21,1762) enlisted in War for Independence fall 1779,
resident of Albermarle County Virginia; was in Seige of Yorktown
under Marquis de Lafayette; received pension in Lincoln County
Kentucky; requested it changed to Indiana. "I am old, infirm, and
have no family." 1893 moved to Decatur County Indiana to live with
son Thomas C. Pemberton. John (Died June 5, 1845) is buried in
Sandcreek Cemetery. His estate settlement in Greensburg, records
Family Bible bought for one dollar by son Thomas; it's where abouts
unknown. In 1784 John received 500 acre soldier service grant of land
from Virginia in what was then Jefferson County Kentucky. He was paid
in silver coins which he took to a silversmith and had made into six
teaspoons which were inherited by great grand daughter Miss Ada
Pemberton, Vinton Iowa, also a letter wrote while in service.

Son Thomas Childers Pemberton ( born June 18, 1789) was in war of
1812. January 13,1817 , Lincoln County Virginia, He married Mary Elder
(born June 8 1791 Washington County Virginia) daughter of
Revolutionary War soldier Robert Elder and Rebecah Robinson. 1832
Thomas C. Pemberton moved south of Greensburg, Decatur County ,
Indiana.

5. Rebecca Ann(born June 13, 1835 died December 4,1899) Married John
Clemons, Lived in Marshaltown, Iowa

Orapa Pemberton died May 4, 1877, four miles south of Greensburg, of congestion of the brain. She was born in Harrison county, Kentucky March 2nd, 1814 and moved to this state in September 1836, with her parents, James Mozingo, who settled near Smyrna, this county. She united with the Christian church in Kentucky at an early age. After removing to this state, she joined the Separate Baptist church, of which she remained a member until her death, in all a member of the church for about 46 years. She was married in March 1846 to Thomas C. Pemberton, who died February 1857.
Since his death she has lived near the old homestead. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. R. Pond, at Sand Creek Baptist church. The community lost by her death a faithful christian and mother. She leaves a large circle of relatives to mourn her loss
