James' will, written August 26, 1848 and probated June 22, 1849, named his wife Milly, children, Synthe Ann, who received a Horse and bridle and an equal share of the rest of his estate...son, Thornton, daughters, Betsy Ann, Oripa, Sidney, Nancy, Sarah, Permelia and also said "my daughter Polly [a nickname for Mary], the former wife of John Mozingo, which is now dead, but it is my express willthat part that would have been given to Polly is given to Armilda Mozingo, daughter of Polly Mozingo."

Many researchers automatically assumed her real name was Mildred (including myself). But, "Amelia" is found on the later Census records in Decatur County, Indiana.
