... With regard to Samuel Gideon MOZINGO - if I recall, his name came down to us
through the RICE family history simply as Gideon MOZINGO. I believe the full
name of Samuel Gideon MOZINGO was recorded on his grave marker. I visit
Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin, Kansas in the fall of 1992. I show "Samuel
Gideon Mozingo 1840-1912" recorded in my notes from that visit. I did take
photographs of the stones, but cannot locate them just now to cross-reference my notes.

Also, I am not exactly sure where Samuel G. MOZINGO died, but I expe
was in Douglas Co., Kansas. My last record of him prior to his death is his
double enumeration in the 1900 census in two of his RICE nephews' homes.

....Below are my transcriptions for the death/funeral notice of Catheri
MOZINGO, wife of Samuel Gideon MOZINGO.

PIONEER OF NEVADA DIES AT RENO OHME (sic)
Mrs. C. Mozingo Passes Away at Ripe Old Age; Mother of S. W. Mozingo

Death came last night to Mrs. Catherine Mozingo, for 35 years a resident of
Reno, at her home, where she and her son S. W. Mozingo, have lived for many
years past.

Mrs. Mozingo was one of the early residents of the Comstock, coming to
Virginia City as a girl from San Francisco in 1862. There she was marri
and later removed to Battle Mountain.

The only surviving relative is S. W. Mozingo of the Gray-Reid-Wright company
in this city.

Mrs. Mozingo was widely known and loved for her kindly nature, both by the
pioneer residents and those of a later period whom she knew.

The funeral arrangements have not been perfected as of yet.
