...Would you mind filling in some of the details re: your ancestor, Gideon Newton RICE? I have his birth date of circa 1867, a death date of 24 Jun 1939 - and nothing else other than he was listed with his parents in the 1870 and 1880 censuses of Douglas Co., Kansas. I have all the other children, and all of their spouses names, but nothing further on your ancestor, other than what you posted above.
I recently began tracking Samuel Gideon MOZINGO further. Because he was buried in Douglas Co., Kansas in 1912, I wasn't sure if he was the same person that went to California, and later to Nevada. I located S.G. MOZINGO in the 1870 census for Elko Co., Nevada as a single man, age 31; in the 1880 census of Lander Co., Nevada, age 41 with a wife Catherine and son Samuel W. MOZINGO; and in 1900 living with his RICE relatives in Franklin Co., Kansas as a 59-year-old widower. So far, I haven't learned the maiden name of his wife, or when/where his wife died. I would be very interested in anything further on this family.
I am a descendant through Mary E. RICE who married Josephus BINGAMAN. She was an older sister of your Gideon RICE.
