... Jane (Mozingo) RICE ... obituary which states: "Jane Elizabeth Rice was born in West Moreland county, Va., June 6, 1826". ... Jane's grave marker reads: "Jane E. wife of C. B. Rice died Oct 8, 1894 age 68 Y 4 M". Again, this is from my notes from my on-site visit...

...I re-read the page from the Baldwin Ledger that had the obituary of Jane (Mozingo) RICE on it. I found this very interesting excerpt: "Mrs. C. B. Rice has returned from a visit among relatives in Missouri. She brought with her an old family hall clock which has been in the family for seventy five
years." Because this news item appeared in the same issue as the obituary, I wasn't sure whether it pertained to Jane (Mozingo) RICE. But it is a possibility. I am not aware of any of Jane's relatives in Missouri. There was a group with the MOZINGO name up in Nodaway Co., Missouri - don't know if they tie in. None of the children of Jane and Cornelius were named C. B. RICE. Cornelius
RICE was allegedly an orphan, so I doubt the article was referring to family members of her husband.

One other thing I should mention about the obituary of Jane - she was not buried on Aug 11 as stated. I believe they meant Oct 11. Also, the obit said she was interred in Ashland Cemetery. I don't know whether that was an older name for the Oakwood Cemetery or what. When I visited in 1992 the cemetery was not called Ashland, if indeed it ever was....
