Be it remembered that on this the second day of Septembr A. D. 1854 I R. A. Greene a notary Public duely commissioned and sworn in & for said Parish & State in virtue and in pursuance of a commission issued from the honorable District Court in & for Claiborn Parish State of Louisiana I proceeded to convoke the members of said family meeting at nine o'clock A. M. at my office the time appointed by me the Said Notary the members of Said meeting as appointed by the Judge of Said Court to Wit
E. T. Jones J. S. Killen W. W. Barrington George Monzingo Henry Monzingo and the Under Tutor Giles Monzingo being present. They the said members having waived notice and time I administered unto Said members of family meeting the oath and caused them to subscribe the same whereupon the Said family meeting did and so recommend Giles Mozingo A resident of Claiborne Parish Louisiana the Grandfather of said minor as a suitable person to be appointed Tutor for Ann Eliza Mozingo a minor issue of the marriage of Lodowick Monzingo late of Said parish and state Decd, and Sarah Ann Lipstrott his wife and relict who has entered into a second marriage and they will and do recommend E. T. Jones of said parish and state to be Under Tutor. That Giles Mozingo give security according to law. The family meeting further recommend and advise that The Tutor sue for a partition of property between said minor and its said mother Sarah Ann Liptrott the widow Mozingo, the wife of Edgar Barnes, that to effect said partition that all the right title and trust of said minors in an to all property left to her by her father Lodowick Mozingo now Decd. be sold for one third cash and the remainder on a credit of twelve months with approved personal security and a special mortgage retained on the immovables sold. Now the said family meeting coposed of the said members and Giles Mozingo Under Tutor being present and me the said notary Public during the whole of these proceedings close then our deliberations at twelve o'clock on this the 2nd day of Sept, A. D. 1854.

FILED 30 AUGUST 1854

To the honorable Judge of the 17th Judicial District Court of the State of Louisiana holding sessions in and for Claiborne Parish and ex officio Judge of Probates. The Petition of Giles Mozingo a resident of said parish and state with respect represents unto your honor that the 14th day of February A. D. 1854 Sarah M. Liptrott widow of Lodowick Mozingo a resident of said parish and state was cofirmed and qualified natural Tutrix of Ann Eliza Mozing the only child a minor of Said Lodowick Mozingo and Sarah M Liptrott the issue of their marriage Petitioner represents that he at the same time was appointed Under Tutor to Said minor and that Said Natural Tutrix on the 24th day of August A. D. 1854 entered into a second marriage with Egbert Barnes without previously having caused a family meeting to be convoked to retain her in said Tutorship and thereby deprived herself of the Tutorship and further represents that Said Ann Eliza Mozingo is a minor present without a tutor and Petitions as Under Tutor prays that a family meeting be convoked before R. A. Greene a Notary Public in this parish composed of the following relations to Wit George Mozingo Henry Mozingo John Sidney Killen Wade Barrington the only relations competent and Elkin T. Jones a friend of said minor to recommend a suitable person to be Tutor to said minor, Ann Eliza Mozingo. Petitioner prays for costs and for general relief.

The Petition of Giles Monzingo of your said Parish Tutor for the Minor Ann Eliza Monzingo and appointment of your said Court respectfully represents that he has met with heavy losses by the late war & emancipation of slaves and is now heavily involved. That acting in the best of faith he invested the funds for said minor To Wit Thirty two hundred & Twenty one and 98/100 Dollars in slave property which have since been emancipated but that said investment was not made under order of Court and hence the loss of said slaves is the Personal Loss of Petitioner has decided now while it is in his power to make some settlement of his indebtedness to said minor and make her secure.

The Original amount of his indebtedness to said minor as shown by act of Partition of January 15, 1855 as appears on file on your said Court was Thirty two hundred and twenty-one & 98/100 Dollars: The legal Int on which would be annually One hundred and Sixty one and 09/100 Dollars. The annual account shows That the annual Expenses of said minor together with percentage due your Petitioner for administering the minors property would exceed the annual Interest & revenue as above stated on the average of years some years being less & some years greater. Which would leave your Petitioner indebted at this date to said minor for said Original amount recieved. Your Petitioner now owns Seven hundred and twenty acres of valuable Land with valuable improvements thereon & to wit- The South West quarter and West half of South East quarter and East half of North West quarter and West half of North East quarter and South East quarter of South East quarter of Section Seven (7) and the South West quarter of South East quarter of Section Six (6) all in Township Twenty (20) of Range Nine (9) and the South half of South East quarter of Section One (1) and North half of South East quarter and south half of Nort West quarter of Section Twelve (12) of Township (20) of Range tne (10) situated in the Parish of Claiborne State of Louisiana. and for the purpose of securing said Minor and repaying her said amount of indebtedness he proposes to sell and transfer said Land to _____________ Under Tutor for said minor for use and benefit of Said Minor. Petitioner represents that Said Land is fully worth said amount and that the rent and revenue are sufficent for the decent support of said minor and that said Lands are gradually increasing in (price) & value and he believes will be safe and profitable property for said minor.

Wherefore the promises considered Petitioner prays That a Family Meeting be ordered to consider this said proposition and That a Commission issued from your Honorable Court authorizing Rial A. Lancaster Notary public in & for said Parish or any other Notary thereof to convoke & give audience to a Family Meeting composed of the following relatives of said minor. To Wit: G. W. Monzingo Giles Monzingo, Jr. Thomas Monzingo Robert Monzingo and Lewis Monzingo to confer and consult together touching the interest of said Minor in realtion to said proposed sale transfer and settlement and recommend and adivse what course the interest of said minor requires should be adopted and prays for all orders necessary and for general relief.

I have on this the 18th day of November A. D. 1861 caused to appear before me at my office in Minden - said Parish The following named parties suggested and called as members of a Family meeting under said orders of Court to Wit: Lewis Monzingo. Geo W. Monzingo Giles Monzingo Jr Thomas Monzingo Robert A. Monzingo and having first qualified them under oath as members of the said meeting and William D. Shea Under Tutor for said minor, Ann Eliza Monzingo, being present. I proceeded to hold and give audience to said Family Meeting and having first read to them the Petition of Giles Monzingo Sr Tutor for Ann Eliza Monzingo to the District Court calling this Family Meeting & the orders of the Court therein made. I explained to the said Members the matters submitted to them for their consideration and counsel To Wit: The proposition of Giles Monzingo Sr Tutor to sell and transfer unto said minor through her said Under Tutor certain Lands described in Petition as the South West quarter and West half of South East quarter and East half of North West and North East quarter of North East quarter of section Seven and South West quarter of South East quarter of Section Six (6) all in Township twenty (20) Range (9) _____ and the South half of South East quarter of Section One (1) and North half of North East quarter and North half of North West quarter of Section Twelve (12) of Township (20) Twenty of Range ten (10) situated in the Parish of Claiborne containing seven hundred and twent Acres with plantation improvements thereon. After hearing said Petition and Explanation and the said Members having before them the original Act of Partition showing said Tutor's indebtedness originally to be Thirty two hundred & twenty one and 98/100 Dollars and after considering said matters of indebtedness amd said proposition of sale The said members counselled together and unanimousily agree and recommend & advises that said tract of Land well known to them as valuable and is really & truly worth the amount equal to the entire indebtedness of said Giles Monzingo Tutor to said minor and believing the same to be value & profitable property for said minor recommend & advise That it is in the interest of said minor to accept said proposition of sale and transfer to Giles Monzingo Tutor To said minor of said described Land in full settlement & payment of said indebtedness of said Tutor. to said Minor and recommend & advise that said Giles Monzingo Sr. be authorized and impowered to make Deed & Sale of said Land to William D. Shea, Under Tutor for said minor for sale use & benefit of said minor and that said Wm D. Shea under Tutor be authorized to accept said Deed and Transfer for said minor in full payment of the Entire indebtedness of said Giles Monzingo Sr. Tutor of said minor & that said Tutor and Under Tutor be authorized to do all that may be necessary to make said transfer and settlement complete and perfect and the Under Tutor for said minor being present approved this counsel & advice of the Family Meeting.
There being no farther business before said Family Meeting i cloe this process Verbal on the Day & Date first written by causing the said members of Said Family Meeting and the said Under Tutor to sign this process verbal with me the said Notary Public and subscribing

To the Hon the Judge of the Parish Court of the Parish of Claiborne Your Petitioner Giles Monzingo Sr Tutor for the minor Ann Eliza Monzingo respectfully represents that said minor has lately married to Fleming D. Johnston of said Parish and is hence emancipated by said marriage and your Petitioner desires to render this his final account of the Tutorship of said minor. Petitioner represents that early in the year 1868 your Petitioner called for a Family meeting which was duly convoked under orders of your said Court & held for the purpose of making a final settlement to that date of Petitioners acts as Tutor aforesaid and according The recommendations of said Family Meeting and the Judgment of the Court your Petitioner on the 11th day February A D 1868 made a Deed and transfer to said minor of Seven hundred and Twenty acres of Land in said Parish valued at Thirty two hundred and Twenty One & 98/100 Dollars as appears by Deed of record in your said Parish, in full settlement of all his liabilities and indebtedness to said minor ____ to said date.

Yoyr Petitioner now renders his accounts from that date as his final account of his Tutorship for said Ann Eliza Monzingo.
