Freddie Lee Mozingo, 56, of Laurel, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, in Laurel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, withu burial in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Laurel. The Revs. Harold Holifield, Mike Lowe and John Mozingo will officiate.
He was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge. He was one of the founders of the Calhoun Fire Department and its first fire chief. He was a mechanic by trade and was well known for his talent and expertise. His favorite pastime was racing, and he won his first race on Aug. 8, 1971. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest extent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Oscar and Lorene Mozingo.
He is survived by his wife, Betty M. Mozingo of Laurel; a son and daughter-in-law, Dallas and Tammy Mozingo of Laurel; a daughter, Kari Scruggs of Laurel; grandchildren, Bret Padgett, Hope Padgett, Jade Padgett, Brinly Mozingo, Amberlee Mozingo, Sadie Mozingo and Kason Scruggs, all of Laurel, Brittney Cannon of Stringer, and D.J. Mozingo and Peyton Mozingo, both of Moselle; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sherry Mozingo of Laurel.
