These are two of my favorite pairs of shoes. Now, I'm no shoe fetishist, but when my sister got her first pair of heels, I was green with envy, and a few years later when I got a job working in a shoe store I did indeed slip downstairs into the stockroom and try on heels such as these white satin pumps (see me wearing them). Still, there are times when these old boots are best--a hard day digging a drainage ditch along the driveway, for example. And then, a hot bath, a beauty rest, followed by getting dressed up. Such contrasts make for a full life.
