Omega Chess happens to be a Canadian made variant of chess (not being one for patriotism, I doubt this has biased me in my love of the game). The board is expanded to 10x10, plus four corner squares, and two new pieces are introduced: the Wizard and the Champion, both leapers. The Wizard starts off in one of the corner squares and can move either one square diagonally, or leap one square diagonally and then two orthogonally. The Wizard is colour-bound. The Champion can move or leap either one or two squares orthogonally, or leap two squares diagonally. I enjoy the fact that these new pieces are leapers and only moderately powerful. On the new, larger board with all these pieces, games can be quite intense and complicated.

the Omega Chess board

The games below are a far cry from the games played between grandmasters at the official Omega Chess site, I know. I figure there aren't many places on the web that have Omega Chess notations, and that I'd be helping support this variant by adding my own game-related content to the WWW.
