more from jakob at the .com message board: "Thanks to everyone who was able to make it to Boulder. Both shows went great and it's always good to see the home team at the beginning. Triple A radio has always helped this group, and we'll always try to be at their "summit" when asked. On the news of radio shows......on the Saturday before the SF show, we're trying to find a spot to do an unannounced show. We're going to make sure you guys get first shot at tickets.but shhhhhhh.....it's still being worked out." "Sorry it doesn't seem that we tell things here first, like CSI. I just don't think it's a good idea unless things are 100% definate. Things can change in this biz fast. We did film CSI last week, but before we had a chance to tell you, the radio station mentioned. I can only say that the epidode sounds really ballsy. We don't kill anyone or get killed, we just perform EOOTW at the beginning. Anyone know an hour MTV show filmed at the R&R HAll of Fame? I haven't seen it, but we're filming for it in a few weeks." "I won't say much about the Gap because i'm sure most of you understand. The music world is much different than it was even a few years ago, and options to be heard can feel slim. Just know that it was carefully thought through. Also, if anyone is worried about supporting companies or others that operate in a shady way, look out. It's deeper than you might think. Have a car? Buy gas? Shoes or a T.V.? Then chances are you don't really know where a lot of your money is ending up, or the fumes from your car. This is a slippery slope that goes far beyond a clothing line. None the less, i assume we all try to walk the fine line as best we can, good luck to us all! Crash helmets? Got yours yet?.....hmmm...i wonder if Gap has one.......huh..." The first single off of Red Letter Days has changed from Everyone Out of the Water to When You're On Top. The Wallflowers are in the process of booking new tour dates for the fall. Be ready for the Wallflowers to kick off a new tour in November. The Trampoline Records Greatest Hits Compilation (new Record Label started by Marc Dauer of Jukebox Junkies, Rami Jaffee, and Pete Yorn) will be released September 3rd. You can find a copy in Barnes and Nobles stores. Bands featured in the compilation will be the Sake Sushi Orchestra (side project of the Wallflowers consisting of Rami, Greg, and Mario), and a duet from Jakob and Rusty Truck (Mark Seliger's band). for more info visit trampolinerecords.com

Lots of excitement at the official site!:
more Q&A, answered by Jake "As for Wallflower news....We've been back in the studio this week with Tobi and Bill cutting 2 more songs for the record. We will be done with them on Friday and mixing begins on the 22nd of this month. The new songs sound great...Jakob, Mario, Rami, and I are pretty much done...Val is in there finishing up some guitar tracks. Can't wait for you all to hear it. Take care and look out for new picks on Monday. Later."
|
3.10.02 |
Greg visited the bulletin board to say: "Rami, Mario, and I just tracked our instrumental jam for the Trampoline compilation cd. We did it at Rami's studio on Monday afternoon with Bob Salcedo engineering and it turned out great. (You might remember Bob from the Mellencamp tour. He recorded our demos). No word on a release date yet. As far as the new Wallflowers cd....We're all extremely pleased and waiting to mix. But be patient, you know these things take time to wrap up...mixing, mastering, artwork, marketing, picking the best release date, etc....I can't wait for you all to hear it. What can I say, Jake really hit this one out of the park." Also, visit the official site to see Greg's cd picks for the week. Rami, Greg, and Mario have been posting up a storm on the official site. Go to the message board to see their posts. Rami mentions some updates on Trampoline Records (the new record label Rami, Pete Yorn, and Marc Dauer are starting.) |
3.04.02 |
Jakob will be a presenter for this year's
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. It will be televised on VH1

inducting Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
According to ramijaffee.com Rami!!, Pete Yorn! (www.peteyorn.com), and Marc Dauer! of Jukebox Junkies will be starting their own record label called Trampoline Records. The first cd will include a compilation of favorite artists.
|
1.13.02 |
Rami recently produced 4 more songs for the
Color Green. You can listen to them at MP3.com
Here is an excerpt from Greg's post on the bulletin board: "All I can say is we've enjoyed chatting with you guys during the making of the record. All I can't tell you is how excited we are about the new tunes. We really have hit another level. lately I've been thinking that the struggles a band goes through can really aid in bringing out the best material. There is going to be a lot of different kinds of songs on this one so hang in there and look forward to the new stuff. in the meantime, I hope you are digging the I Am Sam soundtrack. It's always a daunting task covering The Beatles but I think you can hear the respect and appreciation all the artists have for this extraordinary group. We had a blast doing the song and I hope you can hear it in the music. Thanks guys. See you at the next chat. Over and out!"
|

Here's the -->link<--

|
12.23.01 | Mario
posted on the official site's message board. here it is in case you
didn't see it>>>
You guys stole my nicknames, the hammer and the kid! I was unable to register here under either of those or under just Mario. So I had to use my full name. Anyways, just wanted to chime in here and say Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah and Happy New Year to everyone. Sorry about the chat for those of you who couldn't get through. We try to answer as many as we can, but the questions are literally flying on the screen. If you really want to get your questiions answered, here are a couple of pointers- 1. Keep trying, we are busy. 2. Pray 3. Ask better/different questions! Most of the questions are great, it's just that some of them get pretty ridiculous, and those are the first to get passed by. We'll do it again in the next few weeks, I'm sure. See you there! Mario be sure to check the official site to read the transcripts to the last couple chats. |
11.09.01 | The
Wallflowers recently recorded the Beatles' classic "I'm Looking Through
You" (found on Rubber Soul) for the movie I am Sam starring Sean Penn. The movie
is due out on December 28th and the soundtrack will be in stores on Jan.

Also, if you haven't already, check out the wallflowers.com
for an update from Jakob regarding the next album. |
11.03.01 | The
latest issue of Rolling Stone (with Bob Dylan on the cover) has a small
mention of the Wallflowers under the "In Brief" section. It
says, "The Wallflowers guitarist Michael Ward has left the band, citing
creative differences." Thanks Megan! |
10.14.01 | Mike chatted with fans today, and assured us that he is on good terms with the rest of the band. Go here to read the chat transcript. |
10.12.01 | Michael's
Official website www.michaelward.net
will be updated on Sunday with information about his departure from the
band.
As for now, MTV has an article about it online, but the information on his website would be more reliable. This article on MTV seems a little fishy to me. His quotes seem as though they're taken out of context. It doesn't seem like something Mike would say to the press, so I would advise you to check Mike's official site on Sunday for accurate information. Here's the article
|
10.05.01 | Michael
Ward's official site is back up...His site just announced that Michael has
left the Wallflowers...:( We wish the best of luck to him in the future. ...this is all really sad, and i thought of a song by Jeff Buckley called "Last Goodbye"...so this is for Mike... "This our last goodbye I hate to feel
the love between us die But it's over Just hear this and then I'll go you
gave me more to live for, more than you'll ever know. This is our last
embrace, must I dream and always see your face Why can't we overcome this
wall Baby, maybe it's just because I didn't know you at all Kiss me, please
Kiss me But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation You know, it
makes me so angry 'cause I know that in time I'll only make you cry, this is
our last goodbye Did you say, "no can't happen to me", and did you
rush to the phone to call? Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
saying, "maybe...you didn't know him at all" Well, the bells out in
the church tower chime Burning clues into this heart of mine Thinking so hard
on her soft eyes and the memory Of her sighs that, "it's over... it's
over..." |
9.27.01 | Hope
y'all got the new Zoolander soundtrack already! "I Started a
Joke" is an incredible song, very different from what they've done in
the past (and very different from the original Bee Gee's version) In my
opinion, it's by far the best song on the entire soundtrack. :) Anyway, on to the good stuff...thanks to Ian who already tabbed "I Started a Joke"...go grab your guitar and try it out. Plus, the lyrics are right there along with it, so take a look, if you just want lyrics. The Wallflowers tour has ended, but not without a bang...head over to the official site to see some journal pictures of the last date in IN....it was not without surprises... Finally, the last scheduled tour date for the Wallflowers will be at Groundworks in Seattle. Some people are planning to make a 'thank you' card for the boys and a fan who is going to the show will try to give it to them. Sign the 'thank you' card here! Thanks Dara! |
8.23.01 | Rami, Jake, and Greg stopped by the bulletin shortly after Mario. Here's transcript #2 from the same night |
8.21.01 | Mario
stopped by the Riddles bb! Here's the transcript... According to the Wallflowers' official site, the track that will be covered on the Zoolander soundtrack will be "I Started a Joke" by the Bee Gees. The soundtrack will be out September 25 and the movie will be out September 28. See the trailer for the movie here. This Saturday, Aug 25th, the Vh1 show Rock Across America will be talking to John Mellencamp while he is on tour. The Wallflowers were not mentioned in the commercial, but maybe they will mention something. The show airs on VH1 at 12pm ET. Tour update: For those of you that will be checking out the Wallflowers at the Mellencamp shows, they have played a few sets already and every date so far has been an 8 song set. Also, tour warm-up Will Hoge has not been interferring with the 'Flowers set at all. He's been warming up the crowd from when the doors open 'til the Wallflowers show starts on a side stage. From what I've heard so far also, the guys have not been playing any songs with Mellencamp. |
8.16.01 | The
Wallflowers will be covering a song for the upcoming "Zoolander"
movie starring Ben Stiller. Thanks Sarah
Jake is in the current issue of Maxim magazine on page 104 with Gwen Stefani on the cover The Wallflowers' official site has been updated with new links, biographies, and it looks like more is coming soon.
|
8.14.01 | A fan is making a birthday card for Greg, which she will be giving to him at a concert on his birthday (August 31). If you'd like to sign the birthday card online please go here. |
8.13.01 | On August 17th the episode of Saturday Night Live featuring the Wallflowers will be re-broadcasted on Comedy Central at 6pm/5pm central. This is the old one with Chris Rock as the host. The Wallflowers performed One Headlight. |
8.12.01 | What
to expect at the Wallflowers/Mellencamp shows: from what I've heard other fans say, at the Vancouver show the Wallflowers only played 8 songs and they were mostly from BDTH |
8.04.01 | new
tour dates added in Canada For those of you that were wondering about Ben Peeler, he is a guitarist who is touring with the Wallflowers. He has bright red hair and mostly plays slide guitar. There have been rumors that he will be a guest on the Wallflowers' next album. Also just as a clarification, Will Hoge will NOT be opening ALL of the Wallflowers/Mellencamp dates. More details are listed in the tour section, if you would like to see if he is opening at your particular show. According to Will Hoge's official site, is seems as though he is playing on a side stage, which will probably not interfere with the length of the WF's set. I'll keep you posted if I find any additional information.
|
7.27.01 | Happy
Birthday Pete Yorn! ...Sorry I couldn't resist...Anyway,...
Will Hoge will be the opener for the
Wallflower/Mellencamp dates from 8/18 until the end of the tour.
|
7.26.01 | Ben Peeler is on the cover of Nsync's new album, Celebrity (look on the left side of the cover). Rami posted on the message board in response to it and rumours that he and Jakob played on brittany Spears's first cd (there supposedly is a Rami and a Jakob credited with no last names.) Here's his post... "hey all, rami here. just gettin a kick out of the ben peeler n sync cover. yes, it is him and i was warned about it. i was bummed that it wasnt just him and the band. that would be brilliant! i heard he had an elvis jumpsuit on. maybe we can get some outtake pics. by the way, ben's not on a modeling roster. he's a buddy (as is our band) of mark seliger who is rolling stone magazine's main photographer. mark also has a real groovy country band called "rusty truck" and ben and i play in it as much as we can. be sure to catch them on either coast or maybe somewhere in the middle. p.s. jake and i did not write songs for brittany spears. i did see our names on the credits and would love to have the royalties, but it just aint me!" |
7.18.01 | The Wallflowers' official site, www.wallflowers.com is now being run by a new webmaster! The page is going through a lot of changes and is now being frequently updated with a new journal section. Check it out for a brand new entry on the Foxwoods show. Also, you can now email the webmaster to send questions to the band. If you sent in questions last year to the old webmaster, be sure to re-submit them if you can remember them. :) |
7.16.01 | There is a rumour that I've Been Delivered will be the Wallflowers' next single. |
According to Sonicnet.com, Natalie Merchant will release a new album called Motherland Nov. 6 and guest musicians will include the Wallflowers. (Former member Peter Yanowitz left the Wallflowers to join Natalie Merchant as a touring drummer and still tours with her.) | |
Here's a note from the band Minibar. They sent out a mailing and this is from an email that I recieved...(For those of you that don't know, the band Minibar opened for the Wallflowers for a few of the west coast dates recently. They are fans of the Wallflowers and T-Bone Burnett produced their album Road Movies which is out now.) OK now, onto reading the note from The 'Bar...
The Wallbar Minitour As some of you may know, we just had a glorious week of rock 'n' roll debauchery on the road with The Wallflowers. A couple of Thursdays ago, we threw all our gear in the Mini Bus and headed up the coast. It turns out that Seattle is quite a long way from Santa Monica, so we booked a gig on the way with the enigmatic Lloyd Cole in San Francisco. The only trouble was, we blew a tyre on the freeway and spent 4 hours in Kettleman City watching the only mechanic in town quite literally rip our nuts off. Eventually he stuck the wheels back on with a lump of chewing gum, and Tim drove like a man possessed to the venue. We arrived for our 8.00 pm show at 7.55, but Malcolm saved the day by playing the other drummer's left-handed kit. Simon then backed the van into a wall and jumped back on stage to ruin Jill Sobule's version of "All The Young Dudes", but all in all it was a rock 'n' roll evening. Big up to Slim's for helping us out in our hour of need. Two solid days of driving brought us to Washington state. As we pulled up to Pier 39, The Wallflowers were just kicking into a sound check of "Hand Me Down" and it sounded fantastic. As we went on stage, the sun was setting over the sea to our left and lighting up the Seattle skyline to our right. In-between was the largest and loudest crowd we have ever played in front of, and during "Choked up" the sun suddenly lit up the stage, so it's safe to say we were having a good time. Total respect to the girl who held up a sign with "I'll be your Dairy Queen" written on it, and to the rest of you who bought all the CD's we had for a week on our first night. We drove all night after the gig to be in Jacksonville, Or, (not Jacksonville, Fl, fortunately) by the next evening, where we were given a similarly raucous reception at the Britt Pavilion. The Wallflowers were brilliant again, although they had to battle with a very low noise limit, a problem made worse by the screaming of the crowd. That's the right sort of problem to have, however, so thanks to Jacksonville for your excellent levels of enthusiasm... The last three nights we spent near San Jose at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, which is an unbelievable venue up a windy mountain road, over-looking the bright lights of San Jose and San Fran. We rode up on the Wallies tour bus, and then got golf-carted down to the winery in fine style. Again the onstage sound was awesome and the smaller crowd seemed to warm to us, especially as we were joined on stage for Six Foot by Rami Jaffe on B3. We retired to his room after the show, where Simon lit up the neon Minibar sign and opened a vodka bar, and Sid sang James Taylor. This pattern continued for the next three days, with more and more vodka and less and less James Taylor, until it was suddenly our last night. Not only Rami at the end of So Long Soho, but Ben Peeler joined us for some searing lap steel on Six Foot. The Wallflowers were the best they had been, with a great version of "Josephine". Michael Ward invited us back on to sing their encore of Blur's "Song 2", with Sid in Rami world on the Hammond and Simon and Malcolm jumping around with their best Mockney Cockney accents on. Jake invited us back for a battle of the bands style "Ticket To Ride", which went so well we did "Don't Let Me Down" as well, Tim ripping up on the pedal steel. It was a great night to end an over-whelming week. Many thanks to Jake, Rami, Greg, Ben, Micheal and Mario for making us so welcome and being generous in every way, and to Chip, Dave, Tim Durfey, Jimmy, and Phil for helping us without asking. We will be back..... In the meantime in case you didn’t already know The debut album ‘Road Movies’ is out now on Universal Records and should be available from good record stores you might try want to try Tower, Virgin or Warehouse the catalogue number in case you have to order the CD is 440 013 671-2 ..

6.20.01 | The
Wallflowers will be participating in a chat at the Riddles
Bulletin Board on June 30th (technically July 1st) a little bit after
midnight Pacific time (3am eastern time). Here are a few tips: 1. If you don't already have one, get a username! Most likely there will be a ton of people there. It will help lessen the confusion if everyone has a username. Plus, if the guys respond to you, they'll be able to address you by your name so you'll know they're talking to you. 2. Since there are going to be a ton of people, try to think of a couple good questions that you want to ask them. If everyone posts comments and tons of questions, then it'll be really hard to keep up on all the posts. 3. Be courteous! Many of the people have been on the bulletin board for a long time (a couple years) and know a lot about the wallflowers. Don't fill the board with useless posts because you want to get noticed by the band. This is a good opportunity to ask those questions that you've been dying to know about, but a reporter has ever asked. Please don't be rude to the band. Do NOT ask them questions like, Are you married?

you would imagine, radio-play plays an important part in how well a song
does. In an effort to get Letters from the Wasteland on the radio, www.flowerheads.com

form. Many of the stations listed broadcast over the web so you'll be
able to hear the song from anywhere. Please visit the site and request
Letters From the Wasteland! Remember, however to
use this webpage wisely. If too many people bombard a radio station,
the dj's get mad and it may result in the station banning Letters from the
Wasteland all together. If they get too many, they assume that it's
some sort of group targeting the station. It's best to find stations
in your area and email them individually.

(This really isn't "news"-just a comment.) For those of you who are just checking out the page for info on the Wallflowers, but haven't gone out to get the new CD yet...Go out and get it! It's great. Absolutely mind blowing. I just listened to it for the first time in a few days, and I just had to stop everything and listen, and I've already memorized all the words. (Many people that I've talked to have agreed that they like Breach better than BDTH.) The cd is worth the money just for "Letters from the Wasteland." GREAT song. (FYI for Napster lovers, the actual cd has all the lyrics printed in the liner notes which is really nice. Plus if you go and buy the cd now, you can get the limited edition which has some *great* bonus tracks on it.)

10.22.00 | For those of you who missed last night's episode of SNL, The Wallflowers came on the show and played "Sleepwalker" followed by "Hand me Down." Considering that they played "Hand me Down" also, it's very likely that the song will become the band's next single. |

We're planning to have a mass voting on Monday the 23rd. To call in and vote call at 3:00pm 1-800-DIALMTV. Jake was on the VH1 Vogue fasion awards show. The show will be reaired 10/22/00 at 7:00pm. He's on about an hour and 15 minutes into the show. Check vh1.com for more listings. Jake will also be on CNN Worldbeat. Check tvguide.com for channel listings. I believe it's on at Sun 22 12:00 AM; Sun 22 4:30 AM; Sun 22 3:30 PM; Sun 29 12:00 AM; Sun 29 4:30 AM; Sun 29 3:30 PM; Sun 5 12:00 AM; Sun 5 4:30 AM; and Sun 5 3:30 PM. Also, forget to watch SNL tonight at 11:30et. Dana Carvey is the host. Make sure you watch right until the end because usually they play two songs and also everyone comes out at the end of the show. There's a SNL commercial with Jake and Dana Carvey. If you watch NBC at night before SNL you'll probably see it.

Apparently there is more than one bonus cd. You have to look at the UPC number to figure out which bonus tracks you'll get. There's the regular cd with no bonus cd, a bonus cd with Invisible city and Sleepwalker (UPC 0694908092), and another one with two Sleepwalker tracks (UPC 0694908112).(Thanks to Wallfollower from the bb) Boston Globe review of the boston show.

I would like to make a concert review page. Even if it's from a couple years ago, send it in!
