Car Audio Installation.    Home Audio.    Product Sales and Service.    Viper Alarm Installation
Acoustic Engineering started as a group of San Fernando Technical Students who had the common interest of Car Audio Installation. These students were Khayam Ali, Dinelle Mangalsingh, Kevin Dillah, and Neil Ramdass.

These students, among others decided to hold a soundoff at San Fernando Tech. in 1998. It was a huge success. The four fellas entered a brown Ford Laser hatch, with equipment borrowed from Dinelle.

Equipment included an Earthquake 2150 150 X 2(a very faithful amp), Alpine CD player and an ADS 60 X 4 amp. It scored 138. That was pretty good, considering that there were holes in the floor of the car. We still have that old Laser.

The boys got together and formed a team using Dinelle’s little blue mini(PT5612). This team was called Team Mini. (what a lame name, but anyhow). The first system was: 2 Earthquake 15” subs 150RMS

  • 2 Pyle Driver 15” subs 150RMS
  • Earthquke 2150 150 X 2 RMS amp
  • ONLY BASS!

This system was rocking and later we added mids and highs. It scored a whopping 141.2. Back in those days, we were stars. The mini was sold later that year and the new owner crashed it. That was the end of PT5612.

In 1999, the team went for a bigger challenge – 10 12” in a new mini. Equipment was borrowed from everywhere, even the car was borrowed. The system included :

  • 4 Earthquake 12” 150RMS
  • 4 Pioneer 12” 150RMS
  • 2 Hifonics Olympians 150RMS
  • Earthquake 2150 150 X 2 amp(again!)
  • Earthquake 4020C 20X4 amp
  • Earthquake 2075 75 X 2 amp
  • Audiocontrol EQX
  • Memphis 16-CX35 Xover
  • Pioneer DSP DEQ-9200
  • Urban 15X 2(tops amp ha ha!)
  • They got sponsored by Ukon Batteries, good work Neil.

The team entered the Zacks Co. Show with good hopes, but tragedy struck. One of the Pioneer speakers were bad and burnt the 2150. Smoke everywhere. We were so discouraged, so we all just watched the show from the roof of the mini. What a bad idea! The whole roof caved in.

After that system, the team went their separate ways, some to college and some to work. Khayam opened a music installation business called Acoustic Engineering. He and his little brother, Khaleel has learnt a lot since the mini. The team might come together in the future and release a new mini, with new knowledge and a new system, but who knows? But if they do, I am sorry for the competition.
