Andy "Slob" Hartley was born in Iowa. He grew up in Lenox where he attended elementary and high school. He was active with speech/drama and the school plays. He also had a passion for music, thus he participated in choir and show choir; his name can be seen on a plaque in the concourse for earning the prestigious "Eye of the Tiger" award for his determination to learn all he could during his senior year.

The music bug bit Andy right in the carotid midway through high school. As a sophomore, he attained his first guitar, an electric, white-fender squier stratocaster.

Within months, the dandelion lover joined a band named 5 Feet Under; however, the name was too close to another band's name, so it was changed to Gravelmouth, then finally to Main Street Fire. Unfortunately, the band split up after only three gigs as Andy moved to Ankeny to attend DMACC.

DMACC didn't seem to be his calling, so he dropped out and got a full time job at the Homestead working with autistic children. A year later, Andy "Slob" Hartley decided to go alone in his music career by writing several original songs for his first album, "Dandelion."

When Slob first got his guitar in 1999, he was a sophomore in high school. He was determined to play but had no idea even where to start. He tried learning several songs and failed miserably. The first song that he actually picked up was Marilyn Manson's Sweet Dreams Are Made of These. He soon realized he could only play simple songs because he didn't have mentality to focus on learning the difficult ones; however, he has a desire for music. A passion running through his veins(and arteries I guess. Some would say even his capillaries.). This fired rage inside of Slob as he realized there was only one thing to do. Take his different, funny, unique personality and views on the world and turn them into music. Then 6 years later in 2005, he put out his first underground cd; Dandelion with such songs as "Dandelion," which is a pro-dandelion song. Dandelion was inspired by people who consider dandelions weeds and look beyond their benefits. Then there are also songs such as "Swinging On MY Nuts and " "Singapore Whore," which will make anyone laugh. Slob also wrote one song to his late daughter Ava which was written before her birth in September. After only selling about 5 CDs, he decided to redo the good songs and add some more seriousness to the next album without losing his humor. Slob decided "Dandelion" was an unofficial CD and the next official CD will be released in 2006.
