CHURCH OF THE RESURRECTION
Education

Education is an integral part of our ministry at Church of the Resurrection.  We have learning opportunities for children and adults so that we may be Jesus' disciples in the world!
Sunday School
10:00-11:00 a.m. on Sundays September through May
Sunday School is offered for children ages 3 years through 5th grade.  Age appropriate music and Bible based lessons and activities are presented in a caring environment. Special projects during the year include "Hearts for Jesus", a service project planned and carried out by the children with their teachers and parents, and a Sunday School Christmas Program involving all Sunday School children.
Vacation Bible School Four weekday mornings in the summer, date to be announced
This program for children ages 3 years to 5th grade concludes with a Thursday picnic and program for parents and friends. The week includes music, art activities, and games.  Bible lessons are woven together within a casual and fun setting.
Junior Confirmation  7:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, September through May
This newly created program for  6th grade children prepares them for confirmation. Special emphasis is placed on a deeper understanding of the stories in the Old and New Testaments and how they relate to the students own lives today.

Confirmation 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, September to May
During this two-year program 7th and 8th grade students meet each Wednesday evenings for worship, study, service, and fellowship.  Centered around small groups of five to six students this program is a very lively and popular one for our confirmation children.  Each small group of students is led by an adult guide. This setting will provide Christian education from a Lutheran perspective, encouraging service to others, and foster relationships and a sense of belonging within the church.
Confirmation concludes in the fall of the 9th grade year.  Students and parents meet four times in preparation for their Confirmation on the first Sunday in November.
1st Communion Workshop   (offered in the Fall and Spring of each year)
A day-long interactive workshop for 5th graders and new members who have not yet received their first communion, this program is design to help students understand the meaning of Holy Communion. Students bake bread and make their own 'stained glass' chalices to be used when receiving their First Communion with their family. Acolyte instruction is also included allowing students to serve as acolytes at the worship services once the training is completed.
Arts Camp Four weekday afternoons in the summer, date to be announced
Students ages 2nd through 6th grade come together to be exposed to the arts in the context of a Biblical theme.  During the week the children produce artwork, learn song and dance, play musical instruments, and develop a dramatic presentation centered on the theme of Arts Camp.  They lead the Thursday evening worship at the end of the week.
Bibles for 3rd Graders   Distributed in February or March each year
In special program each third grader receives their own copy of the Contemporary English Version of the Bible (children's version), inscribed with their name and accompanied by an audio tape introducing them to the Holy Bible.
Daytime Bible Study 10:30 a.m. every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month
Early-Bird Bible Study 6:30 a.m. every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month
