Meenakshi Amman Temple

          A mman Sannidhi (entrance on the eastern side of the temple). It is the main entrance to the temple. It is customary to enter the temple through this tower. The temple occupies a side ares of 240m by 260m. Since it has a number of corridors the visitor may lose his way. Authorised travel guides are available.

               The temple dominates the city and is dedicated to Goddess Meenakashi and to Lord Siva (Sundareswarar). It has also been the centre of Tamil culture, sponcoring literature, art music and dance over the centuries. The Goddess Meenakshi can be workshipped in the Amman Moolasthanam (place where the shrine is).

 Turning of Workship:
               5.00 A.M to 1.00 P.M. and 4.00 P.M to 10.00 P.M. Photogtaphing permitted for which by a permission ticket from office. Every monday you can see Meenakshi Amman with the diamond Crown and every first of the Tamil Month you can see the Golden car being drawn ( in the evening ). It would be better if you could visit the following important places one after the other.
