The Crew Bios

MITCHELL CLYDE THOMAS, DIRECTOR, has been performing throughout Maine and New England for 25 years. A Jay native, Mitch is a regular actor and director with the Community Little Theater in Lewiston-Auburn. He is currently directing the production of THE WIZARD OF OZ there. A singer, pianist, and storyteller, Mitch has written several musicals for children and co-wrote the 1997 production of TALLER THAN THE TRUTH: TALES OF PAUL BUNYAN AND OTHER BIG FOLKS. Mitch directs the music theater camps at Camp Mechuwana in Wintrop and serves as Comunications Director for the Maine Chapter of the March of Dimes. He lives in Auburn.

BRAD HOWARD, PIANIST, lives in farmingdale with his wife and 2 stepdaughters. He has played in and around the Augusta area for several years at churches and other functions. In the past year Brad has played for PIRATES OF PENZANCE at Johnson Hall in Gardiner, as he has for the anual teen musical for years. He also recently played for the Maranacook H.S. production of PIPPIN. Brad haas been a tremendous addition to the PRINCESS IDA production. We hope to keep him.

CATHERINE CHESLEY, FLAUTIST, is an 8th grad student at St. John's School in Brunswick. She is first chair flute in the District III Honors Band, and plays in the school Concert Band and Jazz Band. She also plays tenor sax and piano. Catherine played in the orchestra of the Johnson Hall production of PIRATES OF PENZANCE.

HELEN HARPER CLARINETIST, studies with Karen Beechum. She has been in KV Band forthe past three years, and made All-State Band this year. She is a freshman at Hall-Dale H.S., and was in the pit for PIRATES OF PENZANCE and PIPPIN.

HEATHER CHAPMAN, STAGE MANAGER, is a transplant from lower New England, who has been involved in theater since college. She has stage managed for Lincoln Community Theater, Gallery Players at Round Top Center for the Arts, The Boothbay Playhouse, and Studio Theater of Bath. She lives in Newcastle with 3 four-footed kids and works where and when she is able.

JOHN UPHAM, SET DESIGNER,has been in tech work for 9 years. He worked with Priscilla and Pat Mongomery on Brunswick Choral Society Gilbert & Sullivan shows. He has since been working as set designer and tech director for area theater groups, most recently working with one act plays at Morse H.S. He lives in Bath with his wife and 2 children.

DONALD CHRISTENSIN, LIGHTING DESIGNER, is a senior at Morse H.S. and son of Tom & Wendy Christensin. Most recently Donald designedthe lighting for the one act copetitions and for Morse's MOHIBA, as well as having worked with Studio Theater of Bath. Donald recieved a state wide award for lighting design. For the summer Donald has earned an internship at College Light Opera Company in Falmouth, Mass where ten musicals are produced. In the fall he will attend college in lighting design.

The Cast Bios

HENRY EICHMAN, KING HILDEBRAND, lives in Topsham with his wife and children. Henry's theatricaldebut was in the chorus of OKLAHOMA. He has sung in a church choir, as a priest and apostle in the Chocolate Church's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, solo work in AN AFTERNOON WITH GILBERT & SULLIVAN, and was king of the MERRIE OLDE ENGLAND gala both by MCP of which Henry is a founding member and Treasurer of the Board.

HAMISH STRONG, HILARION, is a sophomore at Mt Ararat H.S. where he is a member of the Chamber Singers, singing at District III Honors Festival, an honor student and member of the cross country, swimming and track teams. Hamish has performed as Pippin in PIPPIN, as Demetrius in MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, and as Reverend Hale in THE CRUCIBLE as well as writting skits for school presentations. Hamish is planning to study art and drama on graduation from high school. He works as a Topsham Rec. Dept. summer track coach.

RICK HOLMAN, KING GAMA, has appeared with the Brunswick Choral Society in H.M.S. PINAFORE, and PATIENCE. With Freeport Community Players he was the show stealing Fagin of OLIVER, was Motel in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Michael in I DO I DO, as well as appearing in SEE HOW THEY RUN and ONCE UPON A MATTRESS. With Mt Ararat Stage Co. Rick appeared in BRIGADOON, KISMET, TWELFTH NIGHT and with the Theater Project and Studio Theater of Bath in BUTTERFINGER ANGEL and ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Rick is a second year European History major and would like to dedicate this performance to Joyce and Marble Holman.

LAUREN HAVEN, PRINCESS IDA, has a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance and has been a classical voice teacher in Richmond and Bath for the past six years. Lauren's past performances have included ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, THE MAGIC FLUTE, CARNIVAL, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, OKLAHOMA, THE MIKADO and more. She has also performed three solo conccert recitals including FRENCH ART SONG, GERMAN LIEDER, and ITALIAN SONGS AND ARIAS. Further testament of her versitality as an artist are performances of HITS OF ROGERS AND HART, THE LIFE OF IRVING BERLIN,and such dramas as THE LOTTERY, THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE, and has sung with Symphonic Choir and Oratorio Chorale.

ANNE HOBBS, QUEEN, her love of music drew her to communinty theater practices while in nursing school. She sang in BYE BYE BIRDIE, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and in the chorus of OLIVER. This is Ann's first performance with Merrymeeting Community Players, but not her last. Anne shares her life with her husband Lowell who owns Mail Boxes Etc. in Brunswick and her son, little Lowell.

ADAM PETROSKI, CYRIL,comes to us from his current residence in Waterville. A native New Yorker and child of a hteater family, Adam has extensive stage experience as well as film credits. This will mark his MCP and Bath debut.

MIKE POWERS, FLORIAN,has been involved with community theater for over 28 years. His community theater credits include: THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, THE HOLLOW, and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Mike retired from the Air Force in 1997 and joined the Merrymeeting Community Players earlier this year.

LENNIE EICHMAN, ARAC, learned to love Gilbert and Sullivan as a student of Lois MacDonald Libby through playing the roles of Ruth in PIRATES OF PENZANCE and Dame Carruthers in YEOMAN OF THE GUARD, as well as choral roles. She was last seen as a merchant and a mob person in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and as M.C. of AN AFTERNOON WITH GILBERT AND SULLIVAN. As a teacher she has directed school choirs, folk singing club, plays and variety shows. Lennie is a founding memberof MCP and is secretary of the Board.

ED SARGENT, GURON, has sung with school groups and church choirs. Guron is Ed's first leading role and his first show with MCP. He is a natural actor and plans to pursue future theater experiences. Ed is engaged to be married in August and with his fiancee and her daughter, they plan a medieval wedding where members of MCP will entertain.

GEORGE DEANS, SCYNTHIUS, a senior at Mt Ararat H.S. is a member of Chamber Singers as well as band. George is an accomplished musician playing several instruments. His theatrical roles have been Chorus of PIPPIN and Flute (Thisbe) in MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. George plans to attend college in the fall concentrating on his musical and theatrical interests.

WENDY MORTON, LADY BLANCHE, who lives in Bath, is a former voice student of Judith Cornell and David Goulet. Past roles include Luisa in FANTASTIKS Guievere in CAMELOT and choral roles with Brunswick Choral Society's Gilbert and Sullivan productions. Wendy has sung professionally in local churches, with Sheepscot Valley Musical Arts Society, Mainely Harmony and has directed both Phippsburg Elementary School chorus and the Bath United Methodist church choir. Wendy, a founding member of MCP, both directed and performed in AN AFTERNOON WITH GILBERT AND SULLIVAN.

BARBARA PETROSKI, LADY PSYCHE, lives in Central Maine, and attended the University of Maine at Orono as a music major. She met her husband, Adam, who plays Cyril, while doing Carousel Theater.

RACHEL PRESCOTT, MELISSA, discovered her love of Gilbert and Sullivan in last winter's AN AFTERNOON WITH GILBERT AND SULLIVAN. She has sung with the Mt Ararat H.S. Concert Choir, Chamber singers as well as performing with the Mt Ararat Stage Co. in BRIGADOON. Rachel is graduating in May with plans to study business administration. She enjoys the role of Melissa and looks foreward to future roles with MCP.

HEIDI E MACKBACH, SACHARISSA, is a native of China, Maine with a degree in vocal music education from the University of Maine at Orono, where she toured Europe with the University of Maine Singers and performed in SWEENEY TODD at the Penobscot Theater Company of Bangor. Heidi debuted at the MCP MERRIE OLDE ENGLAND gala.

TERESA HENDERSON, CHLOE,lives in Gardiner with her husband and two children where they co-pastor the Apostolic Faith Ministry. Teresa teaches music in Richmond as well as giving private voice, flute piano and guitar lessons. Recently seen as Mary in the CCAC production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Teresa played flute and piccolo for PIRATES OF PENZANCE and for PIPPEN and arranged choreography for WIZARD OF OZ and OKLAHOMA. She has released a CD titled IN HIS CARE.

DOROTHY SHULL, ADA, returns to theater after a seven-year absence. She was previosly affiliated with Windom Center Stage Theater, playing Maria in THE SOUND OF MUSIC, Charlotte in CHARLOTTE'S WEB, and Peppermint Patty in SNOOPY. She has directed two children's shows and resides in Topsham with her husband David and their seven cats.

COURTNEY BABBIDGE, CHORUS, is a junior at Mt Ararat H.S. and a tremendously talented musician, both piano and voice.

GENOIA D BOUCHER, CHORUS, was born in Ohio, reared in Florida, has lived in Maine for the past 18 years. Owner-operator of Tiny Tot Day Care Center. Loves being a wife, mother, teacher, and performer. Thank you Robert (my husband) for your unwavering support.

ANDY CARON, CHORUS, is a sophomore at Mt Ararat H.S., son of Edward & Susan Caron. He dedcates this performance to his grandmother who passed away recently.

FRED FINDLEN, CHORUS, a native of Fort Fairfield, Maine has been involved in drama since high school. He plays folk guitar and once played back-up while Christine Lavin performed SENSITIVE GUYS OF THE 90'S.

BOB JORGENSEN, CHORUS, has appeared in a total of 22 fully staged theatrical productions, including 11 Gilbert & Sullivan operettas. He lives on the New Meadows River in Brunswick with his cat, Penelope, who is helping him write several books.

RIAN LEWIS, CHORUS, is a Morse H.S. graduate and works as an electrical supervisor at BIW. He returns to stage after a several year hiatus. His last performance was as Jesus in GODSPELL on this very stage.

ALLISON MARTIN, CHORUS, resides in Cushing and is employed with Camden Drug Company as a Billing Manager. Her hobbies include playing her flute and riding her motorcycle.

DIANE STURGIS, CHORUS, lives in Minot with her husband Bruce and teaches foriegn languages at Oxford Hills H.S. She was a long time member of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Hancock County in Ellsworth.

HELEN WATTS, CHORUS, SCENIC ARTIST, is a civil engineer who has performed in several Gilbert & Sullivan shows, as well as painting scenery. Her daughters Manny and Sarah are prospective chorus members.
